hey nugs4 what did you do to get it hooked up to your stereo this way? is the sound quality good? i'm defeinitely not using an fm transmitter or a tape deck thing, i want it straight into the stereo. i have an ipod and was thinking about selling my headunit to a buddy so i can get an alpine headunit and their new ipod interface that allows you to control the ipod right from the face. it's supposed to be sweet but i'd rather keep what i have if i can.
I went with the Rio Karma...bigger hard drive..longer battery life... works great...and for less than the Ipod
Go to a car audio place and tell them you want an FM Modulator. It hooks into the antenna and you get clear reception on your stereo. Not to be confused with an FM Transmitter.
My deck has an adapter for a CD Changer. I do'nt have one, so I had them put a monster cable in there instead and just pop that in my iPod. Not GREAT sound, but good enough for me. For $40, it's worth it. Since I disabled my FM antannae, I couldn't use the FM Transmitter.
ah ok thanks. i have an adapter for a cd changer too but i'd like to have the sound as nice as possible, but then again that might be pricey. i found a website that sells an adapter for 179 which is similar to what bmw uses to put ipods in their cars but that's pretty expensive i mean along with how much the ipod cost.
how clear is the reception? transmitters are horrible, is a modulator just a step up or are they not even comparable?
fm modulators are what they use to hook up cd changers and in car DVD systems to the audio. The sound is clean and clear.
Wow, this looks awesome. 24 hour battery life and you can buy it for 212 online. I might think about getting one.
I bought an ipod mini about one and a half month ago. I was quite happy with it at first coz. it's small, stylish, stores 400+ songs which I haven't been able to finish listening to half of it. Besides, iTunes helps me organize my mp3s and I can burn CDs from it. But if I were to buy again, I would spend more time looking for substitute that costs less, because over time the gadget doesn't seem as cool and a cheaper one might do just fine.
Ipod rules........nice to have over 4000 tunes at my fingertips. I also use it for downloading digital photos....as an address book, alarm....and also dload the news and weather into it occasionally.
speaking of MP3's..... I just won a Sony Gold Card worth 200 free downloads from the sony connect music store. I won it with my Mc Donald's game piece off of my drink.
Has anyone heard about the Free ipod site? I was watching TechTv (Screensavers) a while back and they were talking about This Website of which is giving away free Ipods or $250 gift certificates. Well, Screensavers thought it might be a scam, so they tried it out. It worked. They said the people who wanted gift certificates got theirs pretty quick. The ones who picked Ipods took about a month. They even talked to the CEO who explained why it takes so long. You have to sign up for like a Blockbuster Video trial, or something like that and get 5 other people to do the same. But it's not a bunch of cheesy trials. It's good stuff. Try it out.
Well at least you didn't make a new thread about this. Needless to say, it has been posted before with limited interest.
You can get a portable cd player that plays mp3's for $40. After that, you can get a couple of cd-rw and have the same advantages of the i-pod for $200 less. The reason I am hesitant to buy an i-pod because it's small size would make it too easy for me to lose. How is the sound quality?
