Dude, I know you're not a racist, I'm trying to make a point. What you said actually was about as offensive as what George Allen said. Just so you know. That's the truth.

Did what George Allen say offend me? Yes, of course it did.

But remember, if I don't post this thread and take the opposite point of view, there will be no debate on this issue, we'd all agree and that's it. I want to see and here the debate....I'm sorry if that misleads you or anyone else...but sometimes you have to do that in order to get an understanding from other people who are not me. I have to know if the way I feel is the way others feel as well....and it's great to know as an Indian American that white, blacks, chinese, and others all step up and can condemn this man. Let me tell you, it's a good thing.

But I am always questions, always making sure....that there isn't a better way. Judging a nother person isn't to be taken lightly...if we label this man a racist too quickly, aren't we guilty in some way of what he's done to us?

That's the cost of being a high public official. People can vote or not vote for you for any reason. You want to appeal as many people as possible, you shouldn't call people macaca. His political future is probably doubtful right now, but it's not like he's being arrested or anything. It's part of free speech, you are free to say whatever you want, but you are not free from the consequences.

I do believe Jesse Jackson did get his presidental aspirations ruined by a "Hymietown" comment.

It's actually very funny to watch NYer to take the word "mixed" as racist, while back in page 4 he used "mutt" and defended the use of it. Not to mention all the other George Allen stuff. :D

are you serious? and don't tell me later you said it just for the sake of having a minority point of view in a debate..

do you truly and honestly think calling a person "mixed" is equally offensive as "macaca" and "mixed" is a lot of times more offensive than "mutt"?

What is offensive is that you suggest I must look caucasian or have caucasian blood in me.

Bravo! Very nice spinning. You also showed some creativity here. I still think it's not proper to playing or trolling with true feelings from other people, at least it's very disrespect of fellow posters, who were seeking for sincere discussion. Of course, it's just my opinion, but you reiterated again and again that you found political correctness silly.

Calling some one a coconut ain't very nice ok? Just because I was taking Allen's position for debate purposes doesn't mean you have to pull that kind of nastiness out.

Besides, isn't it what I feel like is offensive? Not what everyone else does.

I'd rather be called a monkey then have someone tell me I'm not really Indian. Who the F are you to question my background????

did I call you "mixed" or caucasian? I just suggested it and don't know why you're whining about it..

how can being of mixed descent indian or light-skinned indian be not an indian?

and this is nastiness from someone who thinks macaca is okay?

wtf are you this sensitive or you're just distracting people because of your embarassing defense of allen..

c'mon start a poll and put you money where you're mouth is..

if you're willing to start a thread to defend allen calling someone a monkey, I'm pretty sure you can start a thread defending yourself from being suggested to be "mixed" or caucasian-looking..

On a less serious note, some top female Indian models have pretty fair skin.

Telling me that I must be caucasian looking or mixed race BECAUSE of my posting is offensive and an ignorant narrow-minded thing to say.

It's amazing how you can be a racist and still call someone else one. What hyprocrisy.
