    NewYorker:

When you're lecturing the rest of us not to take racism seriously -- when you're further instructing us that racist jokes are good jokes and we should all embrace them -- yes, your race matters. If you don't get that, I can't explain it to you.

But your time here's not done. You wanted to teach us a lesson by playing devil's advocate, so try again (this time without lying, please). Here goes:

I am certain the Nazis were evil assholes, but since "certainty is the opposite of an open mind" please explain how they weren't. (Please don't pretend to be a Jew who thought the Holocaust was groovy. We're way over that stupid "experiment." And whatever you thought was gained from it the last time, well, it wasn't.) But since you love to illustrate your superiority through devil's advocacy, and since nobody's ever actually totally wrong about a thing, let's do this Nazi game.

    Ready....? Go!

Oh, and p.s. you're totally white. And if you're not, you're mixed but mostly white. It's insult to injury that you're still trying to pretend you'd have any credibility as a minority after the crap you've pulled in this thread.

For some reason I think New Yorker's black.

Just thought I'd write that since this thread's gone to Hell.

I don't believe there is a such thing as "evil"....the nazis weren't evil...they just fell into their shadow...as anyone is capable of doing. People who don't think they could ever be like a Nazi are the most dangerous people...because it's that kind of ridgity which actually makes them suseptible to becoming like them.

The Nazis were the supreme example of what happens when one judges without questioning their thinking. Nazism went beyond racism....it was something far more perverse. The actual killing of another set of human beings purely on the test of what they were physically/religiously is 100% rooted in something far darker then I am capable of describing.

Geroge Allen may be a racist, but he's not Nazi. No more then Jesse Jackson or the slew of other people who've just said stupid things. I never was interested in defending George Allen, only interested in fighting the whole Political Correctness speak and the damage of intolerance.

It's a horrible thing to have intolerance for another set of human being....but it's also horrible to jump to conclusions and judge people based on a single comment they make as opposed to their track record or history. In Allen's case, he has a troubled history so he was a poor example. A better example would have been Jesse Jackson.

However; I was really amazed at how people speculate on my color of my skin based on what I write. People have thought I was Japanese, Caucasian, Jewish, and now below Black. Intrigued by this idea that people associated my race with what I wrote, I did feign it to see what impact it would have. The result was not what I expected.

Again, I don't regret it. So to apologize would be insincere. And yes, I do take everything on here fairly lightheartedly and you're only getting this kind of response because I'm drunk and fairly happy at this moment.

Me and Friend were talking about this
Why are the NAZI's consider the supreme level of Evil?
What the United States did to the Native American is more Genocidal
It was methodical and very thorough.

Is it because we live in the U.S. that we don't consider this . ..
or because we know more of the hows and whys of it. . .
    it is more personal.

What makes the NAZI's special in history as the most evil
[Stalin did a whole lot of killing too ]

Because fighting over territory which displaces an indigenous people is not even CLOSE to the same as putting MILLIONS of people into a gas chamber.

I can't believe you can not see the difference.

These are the tough question people should be asking. Perhaps worthy of a separate thread - I think this thread already has too much ugliness anyway.

It's not the same....but it does take an immense amount of callousness and disregard for human life to do what was done to Native Americans.

And it's good to debate this and question.....why not compare them from a detached analytical point of view...

We're usually in agreement, but this time, I say....your post puts RR on the defensive and there's a lot of that going around on this BBS, including from myself.

Although I would have to add that I am surprised that the so called "left" is actually far more defensive then the "ring wing" nuts here....
