Facts don't matter anymore, evidenced by this bizarro thread. The fake news deniers have doubled down.

Recap: There's nuanced liberal mainstream media bias for the suckers on the left, and there's completely fabricated, totally factless, 100 percent false, headline grabbing, conspiracy mongering, revenue generating ,viral clickbait for the suckers on the right.

In my discussions and research, I have learned Liberals are too intelligence to fall for fake news and only the ignorant right who voted for Trump fell for it.

If only the ignorant right, who by the way was voting for Trump anyways, fell for fake news, how did this affect Hillary?

Obviously I don't agree with the premise that its so cut and dried who falls for this stuff. Plenty of dumb liberals are out there too.

That said, to answer the question, it might have affected the outcome if members of the "ignorant right" who wouldn't have otherwise voted were compelled to vote based on false information. Whether that actually happened to such a degree that it shifted the outcome of the election, I can't say.

its human nature for people to make excuses like this. 'how can so many disagree with me? they must not have the same information as me because its obvious to me' or 'it must have been the Russians rigging the election'. In reality, the obvious answer is the correct one. Hillary was not at all compelling at convincing people she should be president.

Lol.... because there are a lot of independents in this country. Do you have any clue how many fools believed a completely fabricated story about Hillary killing and covering up a FBI investigator?

Your media was very effective over 8 years and was elite during the campaign to put forth your message of pessimism and outright lies.

No... those things are actually true.

It wasn't so much Hillary as Trump was just a much better liar and was much better at over promising. Keep telling yourself it was Hillary...

I agree Clinton's messaging was off and wasn't compelling enough that said this was a very close election and any marginal difference could get magnified. I don't think anyone knows for certain how much of a difference fake news actually made but given that we've seen much of these fake stories repeated even here on Clutchfans, brought up in debates and even people taking extreme action on them it's clear there is an effect.

Fake News: How This Teenager in Macedonia Is Striking It Rich3:53

VELES, Macedonia — Dimitri points to a picture on his Instagram showing a bar table decked with expensive champagne and sparklers.

It's from his 18th birthday just four months ago — a lavish party in his east European hometown that he says wouldn't have been possible without President-elect Donald Trump.

Dimitri — who asked NBC News not to use his real name — is one of dozens of teenagers in the Macedonian town of Veles who got rich during the U.S. presidential election producing fake news for millions on social media.

The articles, sensationalist and often baseless, were posted to Facebook, drawing in armies of readers and earning fake-news writers money from penny-per-click advertising.

Dimitri says he's earned at least $60,000 in the past six months — far outstripping his parents' income and transforming his prospects in a town where the average annual wage is $4,800. He is one of the more successful fake news pushers in the area.

His main source of cash? Supporters of America's president-elect.

"Nothing can beat Trump's supporters when it comes to social media engagement," he says. "So that's why we stick with Trump."

Even with the presidential contest over and Google and Facebook's plans to crack down on fake news makers, money continues to pour in.

Posts about Hillary Clinton are also a hit — but only negative ones.

"I have mostly written about her emails, what is contained in her emails, the Benghazi tragedy, maybe her illness that she had," Dimitri adds, but now he's moved on to headlines like: "Trey Gowdy Revealed His EPIC Plan To Imprison Hillary Now That Election's Over, SHE IS DONE!"

Dimitri's sole aim is to make his stories go viral.

People who I thought had integrity voted for Trump, now I know that they have selective integrity and are in fact hypocrites.

I haven't been able to spend a lot of time on this site since the election but just skimming through it I've noticed that many of those who were saying they werent going to vote for Trump have been going to lengths to defend him.

I really don't get this. Omg, not even after a full 24 hrs after the attack, with the fog of war still settled in, they came with an incorrect assumption that was corrected like 24hrs later. And you want to equate that to **** like Pizzagate.

It's hopeless. Giving up on humanity is easier.

So much for objectivity - Facebook's new fact-checkers all lefties:

Snopes, Which Will Be Fact-Checking For Facebook, Employs Leftists Almost Exclusively

Snopes, which will now have the power to declare what news is or is not legitimate on the world’s largest online platform, almost exclusively employs leftists.

Facebook announced Thursday that mythbusting website Snopes will be one of a few fact-checking organizations allowed to label stories as “fake news.”

Almost all of the writers churning out fact checks for Snopes have a liberal background, and many of them have expressed contempt for Republican voters. The Daily Caller could not identify a single Snopes fact-checker who comes from a conservative background. Snopes did not respond to a list of questions from TheDC regarding the site’s ideological leaning.

At least two of the site’s fact-checkers joined Snopes after writing for Raw Story, a far-left publication that describes itself as a “progressive news site that focuses on stories often ignored in the mainstream media.” Several others have demonstrated liberal partisanship.

Snopes managing editor Brooke Binkowski said on Twitter that Brexit supporters were “pandering to racist mouth-breather ‘Britain First’ types.” (RELATED: Snopes Caught Lying About Lack Of American Flags At Democratic Convention)

Can you point out some examples of Snopes articles which arrived at conclusions you disagree with?

Not defending him, defending the right of everyone to get a fair shake however. Defending the right to everyone's vote and not discrediting the other side just because someone lost. Defending the right not to have rioters destroying other's property. Defending the consitation and the electoral college. Defending the right to not be swamped by fake news from CNN, MSNBC, Fox, etc.. who all predicted Trump would lose and who subsequently had melt downs after their candidate lost in the case of CNN and MSNBC. All americans have a lot to defend because the other side is refusing the will of the american people as a whole. sure popular vote is an issue but we can't have california pick a potus for the midwest and smaller states. and california has less in common with the rest of the country than most. it's a big world with a lot of problems and we should all defend our country on many fronts not tear it from within.

so just to be clear, it has much less to do with trump than it does dealing with the losing side who have been anything but american post defeat.

they are combating content that is 100 percent blatantly fabricated and proven false, and 90 percent of the content is aimed at conservatives.
