Should Donatas Motiejunas get Omri Casspi's minutes?

You're missing the point. He HAS the skill, that's what matters. His stats are simply an expression of the way McHale chooses to use him. Spot-up shooting and clogging the paint. McHale doesn't involve DMo in offense much as far as creating a play goes.

D-MO is going to be good!!! The question is when. He has all the skills, his problem is he is going against centers and he needs to get stronger.

D-MO is a power forward but he doesn't hit the outside shot consistently. He scores better closer to the basket

The Rockets need to hang on to Dmo. Give him some of Garcia's and Casspi's minutes. The dude is so good in the post but coach refuses to run plays for him there while he's in the game. Get him comfortable in the post, he'll get his points and then he'll hit his 3. It's all about giving him the trust.

We may be undervaluing Dmo, every Bulls forum I go to wants Dmo for Dunleavy.

To me, the numbers say Casspi has been very ok, not good. Of course, for an 8th or 9th man, okay is reasonable.

As for Dmo, he's been terrible overall in the few minutes he's played.

He should get all the backup PF or C minutes!

My main complaint about Motiejunas is that his one true skill, his post moves, is useless without the ability to finish the play with a basket. I don't feel like he's shown the ability to consistently finish plays in the paint. He likes to take elaborate or awkward-looking shots (like that ugly sweeping hook) instead of taking the simple shot. The whole point of making a fancy move in the post is to get an easy shot.

Now this might just be inexperience, but so far I'm not sold on him as rotation player.

In his defense he really doesn't get the chance.

He got more minutes his rookie season than Terrence.

His rookie season was last year. We are in a whole new season now, he still needs minutes or you might as well send him somewhere else. It's a shame not to try to nurture/develop a guy with his height and offensive skill-set. Most of his mistakes seem mental, which means he has a high upside once he wakes up, he will be good. You have to give a guy like Dmo confidence, not banish him to the end of the bench.

That sweeping hook is one of the most beautiful shots in basketball. You got it all wrong son.

The thing is it is not up to you, me or the fans how they see fit.

The entire project is up to Coach and Management of how they see his progress and fit in the long run.

Right now it seems he is a better fit on a bad team or at least a developing team like Phoenix who are btw winning.

Plumlee(a pretty young player) has the starting gig and is blossoming

Hahaha, not when you see him miss it repeatedly during pregame warm-ups every home game.

I agree it's like one of those one million brasileiros that can dribble like nobody else can but can't finish scoring.

You need a Ronaldo type. A relatively ugly looking but effective finisher.

I (and DMtheGM) would do this trade so fast. But fans on forums don't manage teams either. The biggest plus about Dunleavy is he would help 'coach' the team with his everyday play. Taking so heat off of KMH.

It makes sense for them. They seem to be in blowup mode, posturing for Anthony perhaps. They will need much cheaper role players to make room and lets face it no one wants Boozer.

I could understand if Casspi and Garcia were lighting it up, but they are not, so why not give the kid some play, we clearly are not going to win it all this year, unless Mchale adopts a better system or we get a new coach.

You guys expect too much. Dmo is a rookie contract with size and raw skill. How is he going to get better at finishing without practice? 7 footers don't grow on trees. Dmo can be developed into a stretch 4/5 ala nowitzki. He's never going to get there camping the 3 point line for 10 minutes every 5 games.

I swear we are getting the stigma of being a bad team to develop young talent. Asik and dmo want out. There's hearsay lin wants out too. I wonder if this will affect our fa signings.

At this point of the season we are very far away from the WC finals or getting far. I agree.
With that being said, the team is still in a position to compete for the 4th seed and even better (with the right trade to shore up D and the bench).

None of the players will give us a lot (Garcia,Brewer,Canaan,Covington,Smith(injured a ton)),Brooks and Lin are inconsistent. Casspi is good to be the 8th guy.
Even Asik won't be giving us the help of last year caught up within his own problems.

Giving the kid some play won't get us to 3rd seed IMO.
Getting picks and valuable players are more important to me.
