In the name of free speech, do you think this site should allow hate speech targeting other users on this site? Would that improve the quality of this forum as far as getting diverse perspectives on topics, getting topical news that can be trusted, and more interesting discussion that you'd like to engage in?
I ****ing hate the Jazz, if that's what you mean. I believe all Jazz fans should rot in hell. ZDOG included. Well, maybe not ZDOG.
I do hope that the resident free speech absolutists are comfortable fully expressing themselves on this topic. I value their speech.
It's really not our decision. Ultimately it's Clutch's decision and responsibility. People have tried to Cancel Clutch before for unpopular decisions made on the boards. Some have moved on out of principle. Others stay out of trust, loyalty, or because we're weirdos. If it came to it, I'd rather move on than oppose clutch over something I passionately disagree about. It's weird, but I still treat this place as his house.
It is his decision, yes. We can still have an opinion on what would be a good or bad decision for the site.
Hell no, it is ridiculous..... People's names should be here too, no anonymity, people should be responsible for what they post. DD
Don't be a stupid person. Says the person who is completely comfortable insulting absolute strangers he knows nothing about. DD
Not sure you have seen some of the posts by, e.g., @fchowd0311, calling me a fascist, nazi, etc.? I never report them, and I haven't really seen any of you leftists speak up against that, but they seem quite hateful to me.
Arguments made elsewhere that any speech that is legal should be allowed on Twitter on free speech grounds.
Twitter is a private company. The future owner says he wants the laws on free speech to be the standard. I welcome this, although of course the devil is in the detail, because Twitter operates globally, and many countries have stricter legal restrictions on free speech than the USA, and will demand that Twitter enforces their laws. But at least within the US, the new standard should mean less bias and a more fair and transparent way of operating.
I have no reason to doubt Clutch's way of operating this site. He has allowed us to be here for over 20 years.
A bit of a dodge. If he posted a poll, soliciting opinions from members which direction he should go, how would you vote?
