If Chuck Hayes starts alongside Luis Scola I mean watching every damn game like its a police chase. There is nothing more satisfying than watching those 2 go to work.

Y'all can watch Anderson spray tan, shoot jumpers, do his nails, and get 4 rebounds per game. Ill watch the men play like men.

You should follow your "motto in life" here and not expect a lot of people to agree, or even understand, your thinking.

There is no way Hayes starts over Andersen unless he plays complete trash D in camp. We agree there. But this whole "you just shoot over the stump" is ridiculous...why didn't Gasol just blow up against Hayes in those games then? There is more to basketball than just who is taller believe it or not, I know, it's extremely counter-intuitive, but it is a fact.

And this whole "the Rockets can take them to 26 games...they still LOST" crap, you missed the entire point. Obviously, abc2007 was trying to say that we played the eventual champions to .500 with Hayes starting at C, not that we won, should have won, or whatever. And the point is valid, Hayes defended probably the most skilled 7 footer in the game.

You're delusional. I wish I could give rep so I could express my displeasure, but apparently plenty of others have already.

It is easier for Chuck to score against the 2nd team instead of the 1st team, which makes him a huge liability on offense against the starting team.

First of all... calling him Chunk is disrespectful. Especially given what he has done for this franchise in the last four years.

Yes I am biased, but look at the facts, he gives his all, doesn't complain and helps other teammates (Scola and Landry - and probably will Joey too) improve defensively TO TAKE HIS PLAYING TIME.

The guy just wants his team to win. So should we end up struggling with Andersen starting during training camp, I have no doubt Adelman will go with the guy who gives them the best chance to win.

If that's Chuck then he will start. End of story.

For the person calling me delusional, lol, my whole point is that The Rox took the Lakers to 7 games LAST SEASON. If I remember right, T-Mac was a warrior in the Utah series, am sure you saw how he panned out.
And yes, height is not the biggest factor in the NBA. But there is a reason big man (even trash like Dampier) still have jobs in the league. Thats the reason why someone like Birdman could still get another opportunity in the league. The reason why people like Earl Boykins fade away and are never heard of again.

As long as you have a big man playing center and pf, even if they are garbage. You can use them to clog the paint.

Not only is Chuck short, he lacks any kind of offense. At least every now and then, Ryan Bowen would make a jumpshot, Chuck doesn't even have a "normal" shooting stance

I believe we will end up starting Andersen at the 5 opeping night in order to establish an offensive rhythm within the game and then bring Chuck off the bench once our flow offensive flow has been established. They will probably end up getting very even minutes with Scola and Landry playing the 5 at times.

LOL. Your hysterical when you talk about Hayes being slow and flat footed. During college he was clocked at running around a 4.6 40yrd dash. He's probably one of the fastest players on the rockets team behind Brooks.

I doubt Chuck will start but it doesn't matter. He will end up playing the important minutes because Adelman realizes he is by far the best post defender on the team. I think he opened up the eyes of the coaching staff and even Morey with the way he played in both playoff series this past season.

Illmatic - I hope you're just drunk or tired. Your posts in this thread are not very intelligent.

    This thread hurts my head.

First of all, easing Scola into the starting lineup was a luxury we had then. Having Hayes and Battier starting was not nearly as scary then because Yao and Tracy were scoring 45 a night and Battier seemed less offensively challenged than he does now.

We have to live with Andersen's growing pains now, and there will be many.

Andersen has all of training camp and preseason to prove he is the starting center.

Again, Morey has stated Andersen will be our starting center until Yao returns. That means it's his job to lose, right now. He could have a terrible training camp and lose it then, but I doubt it as he's been a professional for a long time.

Chuck Hayes will get significant minutes as his back-up, however, more significant than he received last season. He won't be a starter, however; how could he ever win a jump ball?! Shoot, if Chuck was the starting center, I'd have Trevor Ariza doing the jumps...

I'm sorry I've never been this disrespectful to anyone on her but JUST STFU! Please.

You're making yourself look like such a fool every time you post. Honestly I picture you being that deserted lonely child seeking attention from whom ever and whatever will provide it.

It would be totally different if you actually made sense or had some type of a point when you came to a conclusion but you never do. You just through ridiculous opinions that are harder to decipher than Doc Rocket posts. Dude you're pretty lame and kinda annoying.

    whooh!

    ...End rant...

I hate doing this, and this might be one of the few times, i will go off like this to a comment by a poster on this board.

But if you were my child and you said something THAT dumb to me, I would beat you to death.

Last time I checked, Hayes was in the NBA, and not college. Last time I checked, Lowry, wafer, landry and White were on our roster last season, lol, and I guess they all tied for number 3 behind Chuck.

I love Chuck for what he brings to the table, lol, but sometimes you guys over value him. I just hope the other GM's value him like that

Fact is, Chuck is a 6'6" player who can't shoot worth a dang, yet he stays in the league and gets persistent minutes.

Why? Because he's a specialist, and what he's good at (defending the low post), he's really good at. If you disagree, you're disagreeing with the Rockets' organization's opinion of him, because there is no reason for them to keep him other than his defense (which, again, is stellar). And if you think your opinion is better than that of Rick Adelman, Daryl Morey, and Jeff Van Gundy, you are delusional.

I don't over value him, but you saying Chuck Hayes is slow and flat footed is extremely dumb and very childish.

I am still hoping for us to get Oberto, he played 2 years in TAU with Scola and like 10 years in the NT, he will be a cheap backup that can provide some help to Luis inside.

Plus having him might help in resigning Scola.

He shoudn't say that as a GM. Coach Adelman should say that if he agrees!

I'm not saying Chuck is a good offensive player or anything, but it's annoying to me how people keep overlooking all the second chance scoring opportunities, solid outlet passes, and sharp high post feeds Chuck provides the team when he's on the floor. He's not a total zero on the offensive end.
