Umm ... another Morey gem. This is why the Rockets will surprise the supposed experts in the NBA by finishing with nearly 60 wins this season (assuming core players healthy). Morey knows how to find players that 'FIT'. And find them cheaply. Delfino was better because we found a role for him that fit his style (take 3/4 of your shots from 3pt range, and limit entering the paint except when dunking on Durant and don't make plays off the dribble). And be a good rebounder at SF. Cassipi will play this role well as well. Brooks, if retained, will play a role similar to what he did when he played next to Yao and TMac, ie one perimeter playmaker and one dominating center that draws double-teams and kicks the ball out for open 3s. However, if Beverley/Lin keeps shooting 3s near 38-40% range this year, there's no role for Brooks due to his below par defense. I also don't understand why people think Brooks is fast and hence suits our style of play. He is speedy, but he pounds the ball to death sometimes (while not doing much with it), and in fact thrived under JVG days with TMac walking the ball up, not playing a fast pace. Lowry did that off the bench. Brewer will be a good fit as a defensive situational player. And Greg Smith will be interesting playing next to Howard. In fact, If Dwight holds down the paint well enough defensively without Asik, Smith might be an interesting PF next to Dwight because he's not lumbering around like Asik, he's running in and out of the paint on cuts and re-cuts all the time, and he'll get a lot of passes at the rim with the defensive attention on Dwight. And he'll finish much better than Asik. He'll finish them 85% of the time on dunks, in fact
Always loved what cassipi brings to the game, i refused to believe he fell off that hard when he left Sac. It was the losing culture the kings had which hurt his game.
That's 2 games in a row where Casspi scored 20 pts off the bench. Anyone still want to cut him loose ?
2nd game in a row when he scored all of his points in 4th quarter against other team's 3rd unit (dleaguers). I do want to get rid of him. garcia is a better shooter and Casspi can't defend at PF at all. He's 3rd SF on this team
Cassip has really impressed. Hope to see this continue in the regular season. I think is defense is spotty but maybe he can get away with being a roaming player that can pick up the open looks for a quick shot. He won't play too heavy minutes so hopefully he'll provide a nice offensive spark off the bench. Great pick up!
Just finished watcing the recording. I believe the book is closed on Cassipi. He already made the team on the first game now he wants to be the starting power forward. However D-Mo finally showed some of his skills today.
yea this I can see more than covington.. we have AB0 and Canaan to fill in backup SG if need be.. garcia can play SG if he has to
Seriously, who would vote to cut him? this guy has size; he can shoot and rebound. Hell yes he makes the final roster!
Like I said, Casspi is a perfect fit on this team due to his proficiency in corner 3s and will be a key piece off the bench to play next to Howard.
He and Lin had some nice chemistry today. I'd like to see him play in the regular season before declaring him as an adequate replacement for Delfino.
who to guard those power forwards? Tjones for example did a good job on both Anthony Davis and David West Dmo had limited success there. Greg Smith and Asik could be alternatives. Casspi is still a bench player. I admit he played well
It's looking more like the final roster is going to shape out like: Bev / Lin / Brooks Harden / Brewer Parsons / Garcia TJones / Casspi or DMo Howard / Asik / GSmith D League: Canaan and Covington Cuts: Camby and Williams
