You can't give someone NBA minutes whose playing at RGV. I know you hate the coach but at least try to use some reason in your arguments against him.
Does anyone not notice when Capela is on the floor they are constantly yelling at him trying to tell him where to be, who to pick, etc. The dude doesn't have the feel for the Rockets system yet. He takes a couple of seconds off our offence because he doesn't know how to do it instinctually. Experience should be valued more. I believe Dorsey would be a better option in a physical playoff match. For whatever minutes he gets...should be pretry limited. I agree though. Capela is looking like a great pick up by Morey and a stud in the making.
What minutes are you talking about earlier in the season? D-Mo's? If D-Mo is healthy, Capela is just getting back from Laredo and wouldn't be considered for the playoff roster. Dorsey would rarely be on the floor, too.
This whole experience thing can be overrated. do you know how you get experience? By playing. So free Capela.
Yes, both of them will be needed in the playoffs. Only courageous decisions can give us a chance of making it to the 2nd round. The Houston Rockets have nothing to lose by giving Capela minutes, but Dorsey can be helpful to us as well.
How about an answer in the unthinkable grey area. Lets give Capella a few minutes early in games, and if he seems composed keep playing him. Otherwise Dorsey will get the minutes.
It is not hating on McHale is the fact that when Dorsey subs in for some reason the team blows a lead or gives up a run to the other team. With Capela the team at least has a true rim protector, can rebound in the paint, and can score off pick and rolls.
We have no set offense it is just set a screen for Harden, ISO Harden, ISO JSmoove, ISO Dwight, Corey fast break, or an Ariza three off of Harden penetration.... All Capela has to do is set screens and roll, play defense, and get rebounds
This!!!! I hate it when I apply for a job and it says you need this many years of experience... How would anyone get it if they were never given the job????
Seriously... Almost 1,500 NBA minutes played, and three years in Europe playing for at a high level for some of the top teams over there.... Dorsey is very experienced in NBA sets, defenses, etc. He's a coachable veteran to say the least. That being said, he's basically a defensive end in the NFL who is in the NBA. He has all the experience you could ask for in a 3rd stringer, and he knows what he's doing out there.... the only problem is he's just not that good.
Hopefully, Dwight can be healthy enough so that we don't have to play either Capela or Dorsey much. PF T-Jones (30) J-Smoove (18) C D-Howard (32) J-Smoove (10) Capela/Dorsey (6)
It is hard to say. Initial reaction: Yes. In Capela's small sample size, he has shown a lot of good. He is not necessarily as smart defensively (when it comes to help defense, switches, etc.) as Dorsey because he is so inexperienced, but he also is much more of a threat to alter/block shots around the rim. They both suck at free throws, but Capela did shoot 60% in the D-League, and on offense he is WAY more of a threat than Dorsey because you can throw up lobs to him at the very least and he will throw them down every time. But what makes it difficult is that you just don't know that it is a good idea to throw him into a playoff atmosphere with so little experience. Dorsey honestly has had good games, but he is a huge liability on the offensive end and a lot of the time rebounding. The more I think about it, I honestly think you go for it. I think lately, Dorsey has not shown much of anything. The wheels fall off every time he comes into the game. I think you gotta give it a shot and throw Capela in there. With all this said, I do not under any circumstances see McHale doing this.
At this very moment, Capela is being over rated and Dorsey under rated. Dorsey as weird as it sounds has much better instincts, knows where to be on both ends of the floor and is much, much stronger than Capela. Capela absolutely gives us a couple elements(shot blocking and an ability to finish around the rim), but he still looks lost a lot. Didn't hurt us much against a crap frontline of Charlotte, but bigger stronger and better big men we will face in the playoffs I'm afraid will make him look pretty bad. All that said, next year I expect Dorsey to rarely see the floor whatsoever. Looks like with some seasoning and some bulking up that Capela will be a really good player. Very solid later 1st round grab.
