Offensive genius who is being used as a valet in Cleveland to the coach/GM on the floor? Could he give direction to Harden any better than he gives direction to LeBron?
Easily. Excellent defensive minded coach with great motivation skills and solid offensive mind as well
Bring him on as a consultant. That way when we face the Cavs in the finals we have some insider info.
LeBron makes all coaches look good. Harden would just keep playing like he has this year if we brought this guy in, he shows no leadership qualities. Our entire goal in hiring should be a guy who's gonna get the best out of Harden.
All I want is for JBB to be the first coach to wear a headband, and to be the first Rockets coach to jerk Haren (and anyone else) out of the game when he slacks on D. He'd become an instant COY candidate and a potential Rocket legend.
I would hire David Blatt as assistant coach and hire Ben Wallace as the head coach. We would give Ben steroids and PCP. He will do a wonderful job controlling the locker room and making sure players play hard (or else...). Then Blatt will whisper intelligent basketball ideas to Ben, and instead of the players hearing the idea from a p***y, they will hear it from the most scary bamf coach ever. They would listen.
Provided we empower him. That we don't let him lose control and side with Harden(on his previous case Bron) each and every decision.
Dan Gilbert wanted a puppet coach that LeBron could pull the strings on; much like Spolstra use to be. Blatt campaigned hard to bring Mosgov to the Cavs and probably balked at the idea of trading him.
Most people in Europe think Blatt > Messina, CF's view on this matter is skewed. Messina is washed up, he hasn't accomplished almost anything since 2009 and guys on this board would kill to have him coach the Rockets just because he's Pop's assistant and that immediately makes him a disciple of God. On the other hand, Blatt has been fantastic in recent years in Europe and then he took the Cavs to the Finals as a rookie coach and had a 2-1 lead over Warriors, even though LeBron didn't want him in Cleveland from day one. People here think he's fking Mike Brown and that's far from the truth. Yes, he couldn't handle LeBron, yes, it's a concern whether he could handle Harden (he probably would, LBJ is basically everything in the Cavs organization, Harden is just a player), but that concern of authority over players is his only fault. It is a big one and it is worrisome, but I guarantee you can't find a better coach on the market. And I mean both offensive and defensive, nobody's better.
He should coach in NBA. He was brought in to Cleveland to coach very young and talented team for a reason. There are many coaches that are head coaches and are worse than him right now.
