Or, should we be developing him in a backup role for now?

    Please share your thoughts...

If he continues to improve his current play and gains some more confidence, after All-Star break it's all his.

Not yet. Personally I think he has the overall PG skills necessary to take over Rafer's starting spot, but right now we need to continue to build his confidence and let him learn how to consistently run this offense against all types of teams throughout the league.

In 3 weeks, if he continues to show this kind of play, then hell yes he should start.

Ditto what everyone else said. He's got the potential but it's to soon to start him right now. He needs a few more games under his belt to develop some consistency as a starter.

Id rather have him starting, but Rafer wil start cuz hes a veteran, but brooks will defenitely start in 1-2 years.

Even if he should be starting, his energy off the bench provides a huge lift.

Not yet, but near end of season, in the playoffs, or next season. Definitely.

I would say yes - but I'll be satisfied if he keeps eating more and more into Alston's minutes, especially at crunchtime. I'd like to see them split the minutes evenly already now.

I was thinking of making this thread also, but with a poll :D

And keep him on the bench, develop him slowly and not overwhelm him with too much.

Rafer, we're just going to have to live with his Jekyll/Hyde shooting.

No, he is not a starting PG.

As many points as he will score, he will give up that much also. He just can't hang with the starting point guards of the league. However, he has an edge over most 2nd strong point guards. He should be given 20 minutes a game but not as a starter.

I think his defense has been fine, for a rookie. I haven't seen opposing players try to take advantage of his lack of size, as they do routinely with Luther.

Why Not? Many rookie point guards have started before. I think he's ready.

    BTW you forgot the Poll.

I like him as a change of pace off the bench in the Sam Cassell finisher role.

i've been chatting with some dudes on other forums who watched all his oregon games. what really surprised me is that all of them spoke very highly of him as a defensive player.

they said he's a great defender and rebounder too... [IMG] We'll have to see about that in the nba.

but again ya, of all the things his fans are praising him for is his defensive abilities lol. i guess he's so fast, that it's rare somebody can get a first step on him.

i think it's kind of funny cause i was watching his defense closely tonight, and i was impressed. not one time did a player get around him to the basket or even make a shot when brooks was covering him. obviously, nash, and baron davis will be different challenges, but that should be interesting to see. i can't wait for this kid to defend nash!!! that will be so damn awseome, if nash couldn't get brooks off his jock.

anyway, i noticed that he is a very smart and alert player who can see the lanes great, even on defense. i can't get over his fans praising his defense though. It's like the first thing they say is he's a great defender and rebounder, and then they will talk about him being a "also" a good shooter and he can drive to the paint and finish.

If this 5' 10.5" dude really plays that good of defense, i will be the first to purchase an AB jersey and cheer fro him whenever they play against the hornets.
