This has pretty much become a pissing match and popularity contest between people seeking fame in the news. Like it or not...the news glorifies this stuff. The person who decides to do this knows they will get heavy coverage, their name will be known to the masses, and it will draw attention to whatever bs cause they claim to be doing it for. This is never going to end. I expect to see one of these at least daily somewhere in the world. I believe we wouldn't see many of these at all if there wasn't any reporting on it. The news and social media doesn't actually work at making these people out to be bad guys...it makes them famous and gets the word out that "if you do this...then everyone will know and you will be famous". They all dig at why someone would do this. But, murderers' minds cannot be deciphered as they are already in fantasy land to get to that point where they would commit mass murder. The fact is...I don't care why they claim to be doing it. They did it and killed innocent people. And, they are all over the news for it and are "remembered". That's a far cry from their statuses before when they were nobodies.
I wish the media would wait before they start blaming someone... They have no ideal of who it is... T_Man
This is a bad, bad situation. That all 3 apparent shooters were able to escape the police up until now is terrifying. My guess is that they will lock down a very large area of this large German city and do an extensive search. Meanwhile, they could have other targets in mind, or even accomplices waiting to strike. I've been to Munich several times and it is a beautiful city. That these madmen would bring terror to the innocent civilians there requires the sternest response. I hope the perpetrators are caught or killed soon.
Munich police seem woefully inadequate. This has been going on for almost 5 hours now and unless they are hiding things, they know nothing about any of the shooters, and have no clue where any of them are. I REALLY hope they know more than they are letting on.
Indeed. Having just returned from a trip that took us to some of the most beautiful parts of Germany, as well as a wonderful visit to you own country, and doing so without any trouble what so ever, seeing this news is both horrific and bizarre. It is so divorced from the everyday lives of the people there. It is like an alternate reality, one you wish were part of a nightmare, ending when you awaken. If only.
It is not politically correct for police officers in Germany to hunt down radical Islamic terrorists. They would be branded as bigots for doing that and their careers would be in serious jeopardy. In fact, they would be as good as out the door. Even if this were to turn out to not be radical Islamic terrorism, these police need to be very careful to make sure they are not accused of inadvertently investigating this group of people.
Maybe there is some truth to this. I'm Muslim, not a very good practicing one by any means. I've never read the Quran, but maybe it is more prone to incite violence...more so then the other holy books...? I wish in Islam, their existed a centralized Islamic cleric (kinda like the Pope) that could come out and say that killing innocents is in no way Islamic. That would come and condemn ISIS and all other terrorist groups. Maybe Muslims worldwide need to have mass mass showing and marches condemning any and all terrorist activities. I want to believe it has more to do with the lack of education and good opportunities in 3rd world countries that terrorist groups are able to recruit young men to commit these heinous crimes. But with every terrorist act it becomes harder and harder for even me to believe in the good of Islam. RIP the innocent dead in Munich
