Just look at Jason Kapono's shot chart, basically the best Novak could hope for IMO in his career.

Kobe did play with a torn ligament on his shooting hand that requires surgery throughout most of the season so I don't think it's fair to use this chart.

kobe finishes around the rim better (and gets more foul calls) and is a better 3pt shooter this yr.

tmac is the better mid-range shooter.

Yes that's true, but it's irrelevant to my point. I'm talking about Tracy compared to other penetrators (SG's, SF's) only. He's terrible at finishing around the rim compared to pretty much all of them.

Kobe is a scoring machine compared to our present day Tracy then. but this is no surprise

Very true, you don't need statistics to prove that. I can apreciate people highlighting Tmac's shortcommings i was just adding some insight as to why he finishes so poorly. He has always been worse at finishing but he hasn't always been this bad. Before he started having as many chronic injury problems he was a much better finisher and he has gotten progressively worse at it.

That is the opposite of other players. Usually as you get bigger and stronger you get better at finishing but Tmac never really got much bigger or stronger and he has become more fragile over the years. So, it is not all his fault.

All penetrators get fouled when they go to the rack and Tracy is no different but when he goes up he often can't take the hit and finish. Basically, when he gets fouled he blows the layup rather he gets the call or not. Lebron, Kobe, Paul Pierce and many other finish after being fouled in similar situations.

true, but tmac isn't used in the right way simply. the last 2 games of the utah series is how tracy should be used in this system next yr. obviously, he scored more.

kobe rarely uses the pick and roll like tmac, who before the last 2 games, used it quite frequently.

put tmac in the high post and let him operate and you'll see a very dominant scorer.

Kobe: Either I kill you with a 3, or I kill you by dunking on you. Makes no difference to me.

Shooting is TMAC's weakness. His anywhere shooting is not top 3, more like top 30.

Not trying to argue, but I thought you might find it interesting that 1 of the 2 people Tracy finished better than around the rim was Paul Pierce.

In a perfect world Nash is the guy you'd like to pick up. He's a good enough shot that the other team has to respect him. He's more than capable of getting the ball to the other guys. And he'd be the instant leader of the team.
