Rafer needs to shoot less, i think 100% of the people here agree. he takes really bad shots.

Ron should take more high percentage shots by posting up but hard to do if he plays with Yao thats why he's better off from the bench when Yao goes out.

Yao definitely needs more shots but he have to be aggressive all the time and call for the ball.

Basketball is an unfair game to the Big men, Big Guys like Yao and Dwight Howard are barely able to take 13 shots because of the constant double teaming, whereas a scrub like alston can take more shots far more easily.

    Yao needs 15+ Shots
T-mac needs to get to the line 7+ times
Artest shouldn't do too much one-on-one, not very efficient

Good approximation for shot attempts = FGA + .44*FTA

    And instead of FG%, use TS% = .5 * points / (approx. of shots)

And I think it makes sense to adjust for minutes played per game. This isn't about who's playing too many minutes, but rather the frequency of shots they get while they're on the court:

    Code:
    Rk Player MP shots TS%
    1 Yao Ming 1210 17.4 0.610
    2 Ron Artest 1105 16.1 0.502
    3 Tracy McGrady 907 16.1 0.501
    4 Aaron Brooks 853 15.1 0.535
    5 Von Wafer 304 14.9 0.564
    6 Luis Scola 1049 13.2 0.539
    7 Rafer Alston 1035 12.6 0.472
    8 Luther Head 310 12.2 0.490
    9 Carl Landry 776 12.2 0.627
    10 Joey Dorsey 6 12.0 0.500
    11 Shane Battier 504 7.8 0.557
    12 Brent Barry 447 6.4 0.559
    13 Chuck Hayes 449 4.9 0.337

Yao gets the most shots, and the Rockets run more plays specifically designed to get him shots than any other player, by far. It just so happens that it's much, much harder to get him the shots he likes than it is for any other player.

durvasa that chart makes Alston look better than he should.

It's no question that the biggest problem right now is Alston's shot selection. We need alston to pass, and pass only. He can take the wide open 3, or drive in once in a while. He should NEVER, shoot a quick 3 nor make that ugly floater of his.

Er, he shoots that floater when he drives in once in a while. And most of the 3s he takes are wide open. Now, wide open, but quick 3s are bad. He needs to catch the ball first. Not as good when he shoots off the dribble.
