I'm not going to bother to try and convince you anymore now that you've tripled-down on this stance, most everyone else sees the point here, but let me just say I'm glad you're not in law enforcement or criminal justice. I don't think it is a sure thing by any means, but dude just shot up a movie theatre. I'm going to take him seriously. Better safe than sorry. No s**t, but we're talking about after the incident. Your dislike of him gaining any notoriety takes a backseat to the safety of others. As if him getting killed by the police would stop people from talking about him anyway.
Take him seriously on what? My theory is he told the police he had some bomb crap he made and it's in his crappy apartment. The police call the bomb squad the bomb squad evacs the place and puts it all in hundreds of little evidence bags. The BATFE shows up and eats donuts. All of this could have been done with a bullet in his head.
A guy who just killed 2+ dozen people in a movie theatre tells you he has explosives in his apartment. Meh, f*** it, put a bullet in his head and let's call it a night. We'll let the guys from 3-men-movers look for it when they evict him for missing his rent payment.
From the reports, this was a stadium seating type auditorium right??? This is the one where it has two front exits and then two back exits next to the very last row up top??? Can you imagine if it was one of those auditoriums with the one entrance way/1 exit?? The guy could have wiped out everyone....

Perhaps, I'm being a little sensitive, but why did you feel the need to identify him as a Korean here? The guy was raised here since he was a child and was a permanent resident. He was basically American. If he was white, you wouldn't be describing him as "that white guy who shot up V Tech" right?
Yeah, I'm sure the information he could give us won't be critical to any kind of investigation or follow-through. So let's say we catch Anders Breivik early in his rampage. Dude has explosives set up. But Casey wants a bullet in his brain. Good job, you just ruined any chance we had at evacuating and saving those people. You're dealing with a psychopath who just murdered several people in cold blood. You don't assume they're bulls***ing you, and you do everything you can to apprehend them alive, especially if they surrender willingly. If for nothing else than to find out if there is any other immediate threat from them. You don't let bloodlust get in the way of rational thinking.
Publicly analyzing this guy results in one of those generic, "10 reasons you might have a psychopathic killer child" lists with reasons that apply to half the kids out there and not much else. It makes future mass killings more about get-famous-quick shock value than medical studies encouraging prevention. Just brush his personal life under the rug, do what ever tests you have to do in private, and put him out.
Perhaps it would help to mention that I am Korean American who immigrated here around when that shooter did so. At the time, I was infuriated by the media slant put on by his atrocious acts from him being some kind of foreign recluse, when he was just one degenerate individual.

The real reason is I know he was Korean because the three Koreans I was working with at the time (perhaps MORE Korean by your standards considering they were on F1 visas from Korea) told me he was Korean and they felt bad like everyone was looking at them now.
that's ****ing crazy. i can't wrap my head around the fact that people who were killed were just going to watch a movie and ended up dead.

Some could be seen carrying away a large mask that had adorned the facade of the theater. The night before in a Denver suburb, a man wearing a gas mask released an unknown gas into a crowded movie theater and opened fire. Twelve people were killed and at least 50 wounded.
