Whenever this sort of thing happens, I always think of this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8rMYyegT5Y
What a terrible act by some nut. wouldn't have expected a 3 month old to be at a midnight showing of Batman.
How does a guy bring 3 weapons while wearing full body Armor and a gas mask into a movie theater without raising at least some suspicion? Hearing most of the victims are under 30, with some as young as 6. What an absolute tragedy. It's unsettling to think this can happen anywhere at any time, but it's so painfully true.
Why? What is probability of gunmen in a movie theater? Probably .00000001% or something ridiculously small. So why worry. There are crazies just a very very small percentage.
Yeah, I imagine he didn't buy a ticket and wait in line. Either way though, it's very scary as the only presumed risk you might think about going to a movie is choking on popcorn. I wonder what kind of long term public reaction this will actually have though.
People were afraid of flying after 9/11. The risk didn't really change. Airplanes crash all the time but it's still such a small percentage. However, people don't base there opinion on purely mathematical odds.
Sadly shootings like today are getting way too common it will be news today but forgotten in a week. I bet movie theaters across the country will be packed even tonight....
