Home games only? That doesn't even make sense. They are going to add the channel then delete it or black it out every few days?
That is what they said on the air. I don't know how you just play the home games and not the road games. And **** DirecTV also. I am going to call personally when I get home. I would suggest we all do so.
My guess is it was a radio publicity stunt, and they called local Dish/DirecTV reps who are completely out of the loop and only know the usual sales talking points. Fact is, with an announcement made only a few hours ago, there are only a small handful of very top executives at Dish/DTV/Time Warner/UVerse who would know if they're at all interested, and I highly doubt 610 got that high up the chain that quickly.
They tried with Dish and Dish wouldn't talk on the air so they talked to them off of the air and said they would only show home games. So the other guy (he said he has DirecTV) called off the air and came back on the air pissed off saying DirecTV told him "they aren't showing the games at this time" I would take it with a grain of salt
Yeah, I'm not gonna put much stock into it. I'm sure we'll find out soon through a statement or the lack of a statement
Would suck if they choose to only show the games, although I can understand them not wanting to show all the programming on CSN since people who haven't seen it would see the quality coverage they are missing out on. But at least fans who can't see the games would get that chance. Better than nothing I suppose.
For what it's worth...somebody asked DirecTV on twitter about the CSN offer. Their response was "We do not have any information to report at this time"
C'mon uverse. Ball up and show us loyal fan boys why we've stuck with you for so long even with your horrible Internet speeds! My body is ready.
It really doesn't make much sense for the providers. The only way they make a deal is if its favorable from a $$$ standpoint. They won't put themselves to be forced into a position to make a deal due to demand (which is what a free preview drums up). They will never get a favorable deal that way.
I'm thinking the Court order opening up a narrow sliver of time to save this mess is probably more incentive than tweets
I emailed DirecTv yesterday, and I got back the same old song and dance. They haven't been able to reach a deal with CSN Houston...blah blah blah.
They can't give a free trial because....because why again? That's like saying you can't test drive a car until you buy it.
They do this with the premium movie channels all the time. They (cable/satellite companies) already carry HBO, Showtime, etc. But they'll do a "free preview" weekend from time to time. I understand the difference as those are typically extra channels and CSN is hoping to be on the standard tier. Still. it makes perfect sense to me. As has been said, they don't want to show the channel and then take the blame when an agreement isn't in place by the end...having to pull it back off the air completely.
