i've seen you post the articles about how mlb was doing better than the nba over the years. look i don't want to get into this,

the, "the rockets are stupid for letting the astros control their fates" posts are well documented

I wonder how much longer they have with Crane. I know they took depositions...and they did some stipulations with respect to testimony from certain creditors....I'm assuming Comcast will have a witness. Maybe the Rockets.

It's absolutely stupid, and I love both the Rockets and Astros.

I was at both Rockets championships, otis. Was there for both games. Rockets autographs litter my office. I've had season tickets with the Rockets for far more seasons than I've ever had with the Astros.

And I still think the Rockets were dumb as hell to sign a deal that allowed the Rockets to control their fate with respect to media rights. Dumb dumb dumb.

But you know what...I think the Astros were equally dumb for giving that same power to the Rockets.

If you're talking about revenues, it's indisputable that MLB has made more money than the NBA over the last 5 years or so. That's not an argument, otis. That's just citing articles.

But stop pretending like you have no bias in this. If you're a human being you have bias. And you flat out said, you don't give a rip about baseball but love the Rockets....I happen to love both.

    no question about it.

there's a segment here that has decided that Jim Crane is evil incarnate and the Rockets are this altruistic non-profit out there to save jobs.

    ridiculous.

the truth is, they're both for-profit corporations with investors and creditors to answer to. they're all out for themselves.

I think it's more your constant spin of almost everything in the best light possible for the Astros is what Otis is talking about. Crane has acted like a jackass every opportunity he gets and deserves the grief he gets in return.

I respect and appreciate the update you and others have provided on how the bankruptcy process works but this whole thing is about much more than that and you tend to overlook Crane digging his own grave.

It's true, though. It has nothing to do with being an Astros fan. Madmax, myself, and others are calling ALL the organizations stupid - Astros, included. The reason it seems people are defending the Astros is because others are saying this is all the Astros' fault. It's not - it's everyone's fault. All parties in this agreement made fundamental mistakes and built a fundamentally flawed organization. By default, that seems like a defense of the Astros but that's not really what it is.

My logic was that a dismissal may result in some unknown delays - like appeals or other injuctions, etc. under the contract should the Rox and Stros try to go elsewhere. If that happens, a trustee could lock in a deal very quickly vs. contract disputes associated with the downfall of the network

Which is what a good partner does???? Negotiates with competitors without his media rights partner (Rockets) in tow.

    Spin away Crane supporters.....

This thread is about the bankruptcy. My concerns about Crane as an owner aren't relevant here.

I'm not spinning...if I believed the Astros in the BK were bad, I'd tell you. I don't. And you have Refman saying the same thing...that he thinks the arguments for dismissal are the strongest arguments in all this.

I blame Astros and Rockets for this mess...but because I don't blame Astros exclusively, I'm biased. Ok.

ummmm..when you haven't been paid in 87 days...and you're free to walk on day 90...you're irresponsible as hell if you don't start talking to others.

So early this year automatically assumes it was in September?

    Early this year.....

Jan, Feb, March = highly possible

April May June = Not likely

    July August Sept = NO.

If the case is dismissed, it's dismissed. A trustee is not going to be able to transfer these rights. Comcast doesn't even try to make a compelling argument that he/she can.

And I promise you..when it comes to that...the Rockets, and more importantly the NBA, are not going to want case law suggesting that it's kosher for bankruptcy trustees to be appointed to transfer their franchise's media rights. That's not a good thing for pro sports leagues, generally.

I have no idea when it was....you're assuming the opposite.

The minute the first payment is missed...and particularly if I know there's cash in the bank to pay it...I'm calling up alternatives. That would have been....June?
