im not in law enforcement. far from it. I just know how to deal with them if/when we cross paths. i didnt defend either party wholey and i didnt ridicule one side completely. Like i said earlier, the kids were punks and the cop was an a-hole. Both sides could have handled it better, but to say the cop is 100% wrong is just over the top well said. whether you are right or wrong, do what he says and shut up
There are good cops and bad cops, IMO, this guy was WAY overboard, and should be fired. Personally, I don't like anyone who is in power and abuses that power. Watching that video makes me angry as a parent, and all I see is a cop out of control and doing exactly the opposite of what he should be doing. How many cases happen where the judge takes the police officers word over a person arrested with no other evidence? Without this tape, these kids would have probably been looked at as being totally in the wrong, and after seeing the tape, it is pretty clear that the cops actions were way overboard at least to me. How is not sitting down when told to, resisting arrest or disorderly conduct? The cop is full of it, he is just making crap up to justify his rage. Personally, I always respect the law, never give them any reason to chase anyone etc, but there are far too many cases of cops going overboard these days to ignore it. Just make them all wear video cameras that broadcast what they do all day long on the job, after all they are public servents and we are paying their salaries.......we should hold them accountable for the job they are doing. Cop " DonkeyMagic, go jump off that bridge" DM "Sir, yes sir" You don't just blindly do what they tell you.......you have rights too. I am going to bow out of this discussion, to me it looks like the cop over reacted and his job is to keep the peace...... DD
oh...so he should be arrested for skateboarding? i would have ran from that fat a$* too. you're completely wrong about this topic. the kid is lucky he didnt get shot for running ? how stupid are you?
I was doing some reading about this (used a google search) and this site has a link to the "uncut" version: http://www.arktimes.com/blogs/arkansasblog/2007/06/crime_fighting_in_the_spa.aspx I agree that you should always show respect to cops even if they are acting like a-holes (which can make it really hard sometimes). It has helped me get out of over 20 speeding tickets in my life. For what it is worth, Joey Williams has already been placed on administrative leave until the Hot Springs police department is through with their internal investigation.
cop : DD, can i see your license DD: NO, i dont FEEL like it. (runs off) if you want to overexaggerate then fine but dont try to make it sound like a legit argument. as a parent you should think, why arent those children responding to authority? But i suppose thats only when the kids 'feel' ok with it. no wonder kids these days are little bastards.
i didnt say he should be arrested only for skateboarding. However, if its not allowed in that area and they are told to stop, but dont, then yes you are able to get arrested. a real thinker arent you? how immature are you?
one time at a four way stop....i got to the stop sign before the cop...and i was on the right hand side too...so i thought i should go...instead he tried to go...and we both had to stop... and he got on his intercom and started b****ing me out...."stop means stop"...im like wtf...its my right away...he just kept b****ing into his intercom and then sped off... what an ignorant b*stard thinking hes god cause hes driving a cop car...doesnt mean he dont have to follow the rules...
Here are some sound words of advice from Chris Rock:
you still said he was lucky that he wasn't shot. does that make sense to you or was that just a brain fart?
Uncut version. Yep, still seems like the cop overreacted especially to the guy video taping.....he was being passive and gets arrested. Wonderul abuse of power....glad to see the guy has been suspended, and of course the cops threaten more charges after it is posted on YouTube....... Unreal....from The Arkansas times Update: There's a moral to this story: Don't skateboard on Central Avenue in Hot Springs, not even on national skateboard day. Cop might go bat**** nuclear on you. The craziness depicted below occurred June 21. The YouTube post is getting thousands of views, understandably. SMALL UPDATE: A total of six kids -- four juveniles -- have had multiple charges stacked on them as a result of the incident and one of those charged says the cops are threatening to stack on more charges because of their anger at the YouTube posting, which they contend was edited to make police look bad. An uncut version was posted by the young cameraman in response to the cops' complaint. Officially, the police say that skateboarding is a violation of city ordinance and that they are investigating police behavior in the arrest. If I know cops, there will be no apologies for this heavy-handed bust. Kids must be put in their place. And the U.S. Supreme Court will back whatever the cops do. Authority will not be mocked, sayeth Justice Thomas Roberts Scalito. ------------------------------------------------------------ Thank god for video tape otherwise these kids would have been run over by an overzealous officer and a system that values their views more than citizens. DD
or so now you want to try and have a discussion? after youre an @sshole..sweet. might want to try another tactic next time,. or are you that stupid? it was just a comment. but yes, if a cop tells you to stop and you dont, he could use other ways to stop you. Plus, he could have got tazered,,not necessarily shot with a bullet.
if you say abuse of power by the cop then you have to equally say a lack of respect by the kids. Maybe they deserve a long timeout and take away their cell for the weekend...that will teach them a lesson
