If those were my kids, they would've got an asswhooping for me for escalating the situation by slightly mouthing off and making the situation worse if they continued to skateboard after the cop told them not to. For the cop, I would press charges and I would want his ass fired. Kids probably started it, probably. Cop took it to a whole new level.
Hmm, apparently investigators agree with me. The lesson, as always, is obey the instructions of the cops, don't attack them, don't sass them, and don't run away.
If someone flees, I believe the training is to use enough force that they won't think about fleeing again, which is why you always see people getting gang tackled and having their skulls thrown on the pavement on Cops. It doesn't matter if they are a murder suspect, or have been pulled over for speeding. Again, from what I see the amount of force used is within the bounds of what police are allowed to do, as long as the goal of the choke hold is to reduce resistance. This is not beating at will. He doesn't have a Billy club out smacking the kid on the fingers for no reason. He is immobilizing her. I appreciate that it offends many people’s sensibilities, but as I understand it the force used is within acceptable boundaries to immobilize someone who has attempted to flee.
