Glad to hear you're getting the help you need, OS. As for what constitutes alcoholism, that conversation would probably merit transfer to the D&D eventually. But you are dead wrong, Fatty. And your suggestion that someone just cut down on their drinking is almost a direct quote from a dear friend I buried a few months ago after he died from cirrhosis. You don't need the DT's to be an alcoholic, nor do you need to be non-functional. Again, glad you're doing the right thing, OS.
Good to hear that you're doing well, OS!! My dad is a borderline alcoholic...he stopped drinking after his doctor told him that his liver won't put up with drinking any longer. I have not seen him drink but I hope he really stopped. I drink on the weekends but not during the week...I call it "social alcoholism"
Glad you're doing better, OP. Props to you for having the guts to look in the mirror and admit to yourself that you had (hopefully past tense) a problem. Even more that you took such a drastic step to do something about it. Seriously, that takes GUTS. You should be proud of that.
