McGrady has an ego and would be perfectly normal for him to be bothered by how much more effective Wafer has looked in games (Hawks, Celtics, etc ...). I could certainly see McGrady using it as motivation to get back in the gym.
No matter what T-mac does, you will find a way to diminish it and criticize the guy. He works hard and gets into shape. Dada: Oh, he's only doing it because of Von Wafer...and it's still too little too late He says the right things: Dada: Oh, it's all a PR stunt His trainer says he's always been a hard worker Dada: Oh, well his trainer must suck then You just hate the guy - admit it.
I don't hate him, I am just sick of his drama, and am upset that he basically tossed his teamates under the bus early this season by not working hard to get in shape. Which is what this thread is about. If you have ever been on a team either in sports or real life and you have an uber talented person who is lazy, it brings the entire team down......until you deal with the problem. I wish the organization would have dealt with it a lot sooner, it turns out that Tmac didn't wilt with some tough love as some had thought he might, and he actually responded by getting to work....GOOD ! I hope he comes back and contributes...I will cheer for him as long as he is wearing Rockets red, but if he is traded...fine by me too. Whatever is good for the team is my motto. DD
That's what I'm saying. Maybe we should have a thread about every player then when you have a problem, just go to their thread. I'd rather argue with Trader Jorge in the D&D. Its like I said, if your wife won't give you any, found out ur daughter is a freak,or the boss moved your desk like on office space, its Tracy's fault. 1 minute its a team game, the next he's 0-7. I wish they would trade the guy because its never going to be enough. When 4 players scored in a playoff game, that's on him. When battier avg 7 pts after 22 in the 1st game that's on him too. When scola and hayes are blowing point blank layups, guess who fault that is?
Do you even know what an inference is? Dude, you can state all the opinions you want. Go for it. State away. Hold press conferences. Buy media space up in the chron. Do cable specials. I'm not a lawyer, but I once was a researcher...and let me tell you something fundamental... Correlation does not equal causation. You are going to convict T-mac as being guilty because of a coincidence? Puhlease....state your opinion, but don't complain if your credibility is taking a nose-dive.
The She-Mac/McLady stuff: peppered here and there....okay. But the opening post was overkill and offensive. McLazy is a far better one, if you have to lean on that stuff. Besides, using any redone nicknames makes your post look juvenile. I've been all over McGrady this year, but I'd like to think that I stay cognizant of the line between justified criticism and "T-Mac is teh sux" stuff. McGrady has been indefensibly unprofessional so far this year, but he didn't cause world hunger, cancer, Carlos Mencia, etc. Calling him out and citing specifics? A-OK. Piling on and giving him the 2nd grade recess treatment? Lame. Actually, he's been progressively getting worse about taking shortcuts, coasting, and picking his spots over the last couple of years. Nothing ever came close to the complete disregard for the team concept like we saw this fall, but this didn't come out of nowhere. Year 1: Honeymoon. Gives us 26-6-6 and 78 games. Very hard to gripe about anything he gave us that year, even with the Dallas collapse. Year 2: Disaster year all around. I won't question the legitimacy of the back issues. Year 3: Here I WILL contend that McGrady began holding back, though at least mostly in deference to his back. As long as Yao was producing on the court, he felt free to play without aggression/contact, dialed back on defense, and held himself out of games. To his credit, he came back ready to go when Tim Thomas rolled into and broke Yao's leg. HOWEVER - McGrady did try to take "comp time" in April, only to be publicly called out by JVG and shamed back onto the court as the Rockets were still going after homecourt advantage. I personally wasn't impressed with McGrady's play that postseason, as it looked to me like he was becoming more of a volume shooter, and would only for limited stretches attack the rim. All this after the infamous "it's on me" quote. There was a clear difference in his play this series versus the one he had against Dallas. Year 4: The 22 win streak. I think the "carried us" lines are a bit of an overstatement, given the major contributions by the Scolandry duo. Rafer and McGrady both increased the QUALITY of their games significantly, though Tracy wasn't exactly roasting teams for 35 every night (hit 30 five times during the streak, had 15 or less six times, his average went from 20 to 22 for the streak). More importantly, I watched him start to shut things down toward the end of the streak, and began to seriously question McGrady as a franchise player for the first time. Against the Bobcats and then again against the Lakers he openly submitted facing one-on-one perimeter coverage by the likes of Matt Carroll and Vlad Radmanovic. Watch the game again if you'd like - he would not take advantage of clear mismatches and was unwilling to drive. Half the remaining games in the season, he was horrible/apathetic, though this can be largely attributed to his knee and shoulder. Matador defense, perimeter volume shooting, total aversion to enter the paint - McGrady started playing terrible basketball in order to deal with his knee. Heroic? Year 5: heh.
Are you serious? After being banned as New Yorker, now you are questioning others credibility? Man...is that ever rich. DD
You've said this over and over again....there's no drama right now. The guy is getting in shape and doing what he has to do. What more can you ask? Why are you STILL bashing the guy after making your point 3 weeks ago???? People on this board get it, but it's tiring and deflating to constantly see t-mac bashing threads. You're too mature and been on this community long enough to know when you've made your point and don't need to keep kicking the dead horse - do you follow what I'm saying? When do you stop? he's doing what he has to do. At least hold your tongue until he messes up again...
I love how you spew this lying garbage. I'm not going to rehash this here, but if you want to false accuse me and attack me on this board, go ahead, I just will lose all respect for you. What little left there is.
So, you are ok with what he did the first half of the year? I am dissappointed in where the team is primarily because of the drama and lack of preparedness by Tmac. But I appreciate you telling people what they should and should not post...I mean that is very helpful....no really. I can't recall the particulars, but you were banned for your actions in the D&D..that is indisputable. DD
I'm just saying people are getting tired of your incessant whining and you are bringing the board down into your little ego driven psycho vendetta. Now I need to get away because you are beginning to tick me off. Have a wonderfully pleasent day bashing t-mac more.
Yep, I edited it because I could not recall the exact particulars......I just find it funny that you of all people who basically got banned in the D&D for a credibility issue are whining about others credibility. I mean can't you see the hypocrisy? I am not bringing the board anywhere, this is not my thread.....but I do happen to agree with it. People can choose to post or ignore whom they like.....you just like to come into threads, snipe, then blame others for the argument. But I do agree, it is going nowhere...Have a great day. DD
I was banned on D&D for a name I called someone if you must know. But what you wrote was just slanderous lies. And that's what you do Dada - you write whatever you can to throw anyone under the bus to make a point. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. And that's why I am done with your act. You can provide some valuable insights, but right now you are being more of a cancer in my opinion. You're ruining the chemistry on this board. Instead of everyone getting excited and having fun, we have to ready your poop everyday about how much you hate t-mac. Sucks.
Box score shows he played 15 mins. Bobby Jackson got the bulk and went a sweet 2-12. Game 6 Box Score
I can respect that.....it makes more sense than calling someone a liar, or saying they are making stuff up. You don't see how doing that would lead to more of the discussion which you are saying is bringing the board down? Doesn't it take two to tango? Ok, Lou, I concede your point about Tmac.....I am certainly pissed off that the guy waited until January to do the rehab, but will be cheering him on if he comes back and plays hard within the team concept. However, if he comes back as a ball stopping, no defense playing, too many shot taking prima donna, expect people to be just as angry with him as many of us are now. DD
Because he isn't.....he plays hard.....and was out because he OVERDID it in rehab. And you already had a Shane sucks thread....calling him the Teflon man..why not post in there? Only you and a few others think Shane is a problem...most people in the NBA and elsewhere think he is a fine role player. Blaming role players when alleged Superstars are causing a problem is pretty silly if you ask me. DD
lol what humor? i have no problems with humor or joke threads about a player but i've only read one post where they tried to be funny and was actually funny. Again, you can use humor without resorting to elementary grade tactics of name calling. It just makes a poster look so childish and lose credibility. Especially when 1 of those 15 people TRY to write a well thought out post but throw in kiddy insults because they can't think of anything else clever.
