his annual "meltdowns" (whether it be injuries or whatever) that you talk about usually occur BEFORE THE ALL-STAR BREAK. tracy has done his part every year after the all-star break, going into the playoffs, and usually the only one playing well. so no, i don't think he'll just play well for a "couple of games" and he'll get his praises. he'll get his praises when he gets this team past the first round and deep into the playoffs. and that can be done if he plays how he played in the 2nd half of last yr and the playoffs.
He took himself out of the rotation for a week with no medical justification. He took himself out of one game out of every back to back. He quit on the team in Toronto. He deserves it.
Who cares when his meltdowns occur? They shouldn't be happening at all. It's a distraction. If the guy had any guts he'd apologize to his teammates.
and he deserves those criticisms THIS YEAR. and yet you can still tend to tie it to how he has done this EVERY year. lol.
and he should no doubt. and i'm sure he has privately. the team apparently has gotten over all this drama really quick hasn't it? so apparently the distraction wasn't that bad, like it was made out to be.
He did the same thing at the start of last year...... We played much better when he was out, so when he came back he knew he had to try to fit in the "system". That is when we really took off, until Yao got hurt(really hurt) and our glory went down the ****ter..... Hopefully he takes a fit in, energetic approach when he comes back...... We really need Ron so this team has some balls...........Not those tiny nuts we have out there now..............
i've always preferred an suv. hummer over corvette. this thread is great. from the op to many that responded. very entertaining to me - at least when i read all the posts at past 3am. 5 star.
To OP: If you were fan of TMac before, if you liked the trade that brought him here then you are a hypocrite. You made him primadonna, you made him earn millions, you made him have this status. He is whiner, he was before, so are you.
He had his "injuries" last year too, again after a terrible game in Toronto. He sat out last year too and the Rockets gelled without him.
It makes you wonder how much an emerging talent like Von Wafer has an effect on Tmac. Did he look around and see the team moving on without him, so he got busy? Why didn't he do this work out in December? This trainer has been with him for 13 years....so he finally decides to push himself in January. Don't get me wrong, I am happy he is FINALLY getting over the mental hurdles of arthoscopic surgery as high as those hurdles are....but man....it would have been better to be pushed in September/October so he could play a full season, right? And all the clubhouse drama could have been avoided. DD
Well, this thread has been fun. But there was a line in the OP that made me think about a song. A song that pretty much wraps up how I feel about this McGrady thing. Don't Think Twice, It's All Right -dylan It ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe It don't matter, anyhow An' it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe If you don't know by now When your rooster crows at the break of dawn Look out your window and I'll be gone You're the reason I'm trav'lin' on Don't think twice, it's all right It ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe That light I never knowed An' it ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe I'm on the dark side of the road Still I wish there was somethin' you would do or say To try and make me change my mind and stay We never did too much talkin' anyway So don't think twice, it's all right It ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal Like you never did before It ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal I can't hear you any more I'm a-thinkin' and a-wond'rin' all the way down the road I once loved a woman, a child I'm told I give her my heart but she wanted my soul But don't think twice, it's all right I'm walkin' down that long, lonesome road, babe Where I'm bound, I can't tell But goodbye's too good a word, gal So I'll just say fare thee well I ain't sayin' you treated me unkind You could have done better but I don't mind You just kinda wasted my precious time But don't think twice, it's all right
T-Mac1, The problem is that if he played hard all year, instead of just in the 2nd half, the team would not be struggling along in the 4-8th playoff spot. It would be a number 1 or 2 seed, which means...you get an easier opponent in the playoffs, AND your chances of advancing beyond the first round greatly increase. That is the problem with the thinking that "as long as you are there for the playoffs"...mentality. DD
That's not entirely accurate. Having McGrady on your roster pretty much guarantees a first round exit, regardless of your seeding.
If we don't beat any good seed how in the world are we going to win it all? it was clear this year that it was Win it all or bust
Yes, but the easier you can make your trip through the playoffs the better off you are. Remember the first Rocket's championship? I think they were the number 2 seed and Seattle lost in the first round, we needed every bit of Home court to win in game 7 against the Knicks. Then the team won from the 6 spot the next year, the only time in NBA history a team won a championship without homecourt. Most of the time NBA champions have home court advantage at least 2 times in the playoff round. It makes a difference. DD
Would it be possible to put all threads whining about Tracy McGrady into one? This is worse than the 439876023489 threads about Rafer Alston last year. We get it. 99% of this board doesnt like him.
Remember the major Raferwagon incident after Yao's injury? People were crawling into the bandwagon big time.
