Woah, I did not say they were on the same level at all, just that people seem to be a lot more sensitive about TMac than they are about the other Rockets. But calling someone SheMac, is not the same as what you referenced above either, now is it? And SheMac is on the same level as the other threads I posted...which was my point. DD

Which is exactly why it seems like mock indignation of their favorite player. Because there is no defending Tmac for his behavior this year, he quit, didn't work hard to get in shape, ignored the doctors, pissed off his teamates, and now suddenly finds himself cured, after watching someone else blowing up in his spot. So, while I do not doubt Tmac's talent, I do doubt his resolve, as do fans in Orlando, Toronto and all over the world. DD
Yes, it is. Calling him "she-mac" and referencing him as "her" is functionally equivalent to saying "McGrady has a vagina and is not a man". It *is* offensive. Just because Hayesfan and other ladies aren't the ones complaining doesn't mean those of us who value civility can't take exception to it.
Yes, I did see where they did not like it, and can see where it can be considered offensive, but that is NOT the same level as the massive leap you are making here. And calling someone a wuss has been in sports analogies for years..... To quote a great movie. "You play ball like a GIRL !" Yeah, Riley's post is harsh, but mostly because of the content and not because he's lobbing gratuitous insults. It's probably comparable to the "Teflon Don" thread leebigez made about Battier. Certainly it's no worse than that "Mac in the Box" picture that Clutch posted up. Both equally devastating, in different ways.

I think the Tmac fans are probably just tired of hearing their favorite player getting raked over the coals.... That I can certainly understand. However the point of this thread, that has been derailed now...was how can his teamates respect him when they have all been working hard, and he has hung them out to dry? I think the answer is they will let him back, but I doubt the trust ever comes back fully.....Tmac will never be the leader of this team again, and he shouldn't be. DD

You're misinterpreting my post a wee bit. I meant that Hayesfan is the only one with a valid point, regardless of what Hayesfan's gender is. Also, if Hayesfan is a girl she should post pictures of herself, kthxbai. As for what's in good taste or not I'd say there's an awfully thin line dividing the good from the bad. Go back and read the original post. It's pretty harsh but that's mostly due to what's being said and not because gratuitous insults are being slung around.
DD has a point in that it's not just this post -- the OP did not use the words "vagina" and "p***y" in his post, but I've seen them used so frequently over the past few weeks that it deserved some addressing. A case has to be made for civility. The OP was perfectly in his rights to vent his frustrations about McGrady, and he could have done so just as effectively without taking special care to replace all instances of "him" with "her" and overrun the entire piece with She-mac references. Posts like this just make this board rather unpleasant to read.
I actually don't have a problem with the OP. The She-Mac thing just sort of makes me roll my eyes, but he brings up points that I think are justified. I just took the opportunity to point out that some people go way overboard here and it almost always involves McGrady. I see lots of people critcizing other players but don't usually see excessive anatomical descriptions being used. I know you're a McGrady critic, and that's cool with me. I just wish more people would follow your example instead of acting like they're in 3rd grade and just learned how to say naughty words.
Maybe you should address those issues in a separate thread in that case, rather than smearing the OP with guilt by association.
Not really. I'm not sure you read what I posted there at all -- like MayoRocket said, his post would have been perfectly OK without all the Shemac stuff. He had a perfectly reasonable point to make, but as a result of his lack of civility we're here discussing anatomical references instead of the actual subject matter.
