Nurkic 4/48 or 4/53 back to Portland. Set the tone for Capela?!

    Sad market for RFA

Nurkic's contract is a nice baseline figure for Capela and the Rockets to find a deal, IMO.

I'll take 4/$1 million if someone wants to offer it to me and I'll live like a King!

Honestly, what would Capela or ANY of these players be earning right now if they weren't playing in the NBA? My guess? Somewhere between minimum wage and $60,000 per year tops. Some of these dudes can't see how green their grass is. *******$.

I disagree. The odds of making the NBA are incredibly long. I don't think there is a player in the league who doesn't work really, really hard to get there. The level of dedication it takes to become a pro athelete rivals anything you, or I could do in any endeavour. I want players to make as much as they can. They give me a lot of enjoyment.

You think if these guys were not in the NBA that somehow their athletic ability would translate to some work that put their salary anywhere close to what they are making in these deals that they pout about?

I’m afraid you will have to ask for at least the league minimum set by the CBA.

Hard to overstate how bad this offseason will have gone if Clint takes the QO. Would be an absolute disaster.

And what pot of gold shall I ask for to meet the league minimum?

I think that they have a skill set that is a unique commodity that the market values more than other skill sets. I would say that there is vastly more competition to get their jobs than the jobs we, the average person, does. Their athletic ability is only partially why they are compensated the way they are.

He needs to get as much money as he can before his career is over. One bad step and he and his earning potential is gone or decreased. (Ralph Sampson >>> I know Capela is just a small fraction of the player Sampson was before injury.

yep great deal for Nurkic. now, $80 million for 4 years for Lavine is nuts.

Nurkic contract is good for Portland, but also not bad for him imo, he had different injuries already and seems like he was causing some problems in Denver's lockeroom, i can see why his agent might have pushed him to agree with this.

That's Capela's number. Pump it to 4 yr/$52 (someone mentioned earlier) and call it a done deal.
