i agree, we can't lose. he could also get injured this year, so if that happens. we could lose lots of money. i think he likes it here and would give us the chance to match next year. it should only make him work harder to improve his shooting.

So someone "thinks" they know what Clint will do. Awesome.

If he signs for the QO, we trade him at the deadline to someone who really wants him and thinks they can convince him to re-sign there during the summer. He's an above-average center in our system, but I kind of see our system as being the key in that equation, not Clint. Offer him a decent contract, and if he prefers to take the QO he can enjoy his final half-season of being an all-star level player before he moves on and sinks into mediocrity.

I found this out recently, if he signs a QO he has a no trade. Otherwise, I was thinking the exact same thing.

Well, dammit. In that case, we get a year's worth of a $15M player in our system for only $4Mish before he moves on to another team and becomes "that guy who used to be pretty good."

Don’t see him risking injury one more year and not getting paid.

He is going to sign long term and it will be at a bargain compared to the past.

Teams used all their cap room on mediocre players last off season so they are cash strapped and center isn't high on most teams list when it comes to spending money in todays small ball guard dominated NBA.

Mostly agree here. A compromise may cost Capela $10+ million, but an injury could cost him his entire next contract...see Boogie. Capelas camp is probably just frustrated that they don't have any leverage, so they are floating the nuclear option. While I think the Rockets prefer Capela on a long term deal, I think they would be ok with the QO.

I wouldn't spend too much on him either.

He is great against a lot of teams but he was useless against GSW... you can't have 20-25% of your cap tied up in a player who is basically useless against GSW.

I'd rather let him walk and pay a competent vet the minimum than pay him anything more than $15 million a year.

Ramona “two burrito” Shelburne only knows what Buss and the Lakers tell her. Even her breaking the Phil Jackson news in the past was from what Jeanie Buss told her. She is reliable for spitting out what the Lakers management wants released and that is all. Her information on the Rockets is a guess or what she hears third hand from Windedhorse in the burrito bar during one of her two hour lunch eating sessions.

Yeah, I thought $4 M for Capella is 100% tradable to a team with cap. I mean ask a team on the rise, with cap, for a 1st for Clint? That seems like were getting robbed in that situation. But his NTC makes this uncomfortable for everyone. My guess is the rockets bid against themselves at least once to avoid it.

KL idea has legs and Lakers trying to sow discord in hopes of squashing it before it gets going. If KL came here, they know he wouldn’t go to LA next year.

Yeah, that’s the ticket. I’m sure of it.

I would like to mention that I'm really happy Phoenix won the first pick in the lottery.

All I know is imagine if 'holic, DD and Btg liked Capela as much as they liked an injured DMo. The GARM would be all about Capela getting paid, Yule C, confident bets on how much his offer sheet will be for, trickling down to how he should take the qualifying offer to screw Morey, kicking cans down the road, and all the while peppered with how we should Post him up more.

No matter what Capela does, can't be worse than the Summer of 2016.

That's life. You work your ass off in any profession and try to get paid. If your skillset isn't what the market needs or wants, then there won't be a premium for it. We all deal with this.
