Be nice guys. I’m sure at one point he was thinking about taking the QO. No need to insult the messenger.

Some pretty tasteless comments in this thread from a bunch of keyboard warriors.

    Be better.

I agree. That said, this just goes to show the point of these “sources” aka Capela’s agent trying to create leverage when he had none. And they work at times too. Imagine a front office run by clutchfans consensus we’d have given up all our future picks for Melo last year and gave Capela his max deal this year. It’s a good thing we have a front office who don’t work like this.

Good points. They are trying to create leverage, but the Rockets must not increase the offer. 5yrs 85M plus incentives to 90M is very generous. He isn't worth more than 4 yrs 60 M at his best. Let him take the QO.

There were posters like myself who were wary, of giving up too much for Melo last year. The Rockets simply didn't have the assets to acquire him, but I'm glad that the Rockets didn't give multiple future picks for him. He isn't worth more than 10 M right now, at best. In fact, there are greater doubts about him right now, after his inability to help OKC in the playoffs, and his desire to be a starter with additional entitlements.

Addendum: I just read the information about Capela signing for 5 years 80 M with 10 M incentives. That's even better than 5 years 85 M with 5 M incentives. Good job by Morey.

Clutch should be more active about this. It’s embarrassing

Daryl Morey is a master negotiator. This dude must study the art of it.

Eh, I was close. I just didn't go 5 years. But 17M per was right on target. It is all about "the market"
