"Underachiever" means victim of the Lakers and his own temper.

But like I said in a previous post. Rasheed doesn't want to be the main-man any more. He doesn't want the franchise pressure. He wants to blend in and be part of a team.

I would take Rasheed if available without giving up one of our stars. He does rebound, shoots well, runs well, and has a fire. Yes that fire can be a hindrance sometimes, but when properly directed is awesome.

I would make that trade for Ra. Wallace and give up anybody but Francis, Yao and Mobley. If Portland stresses they want Mobley included in the deal, the ROX should demand Derek Anderson or Bonzi Wells in return with Wallace. That would be a definite upgrade over Griffin at the PF position. Then Yao can have the first Leiutenant he needs down low.

Salary wise, it will work, I was just not sure about some of the complications that might be involved with it.

    Eddie Griffin $2,316,760
    Kelvin Cato $7,344,000
    Maurice Taylor $7,800,000
    Moochie Norris $3,600,000

    Total: 21,060,760

    -

    Rasheed Wallace $17,000,000
    Jeff McInnis $3,300,000

    Total: 20,300,000

The difference is only around 3%, thus the trade will work "salary wise". Portland will now have a deep front court to build on, with Cato sharing the center position with the declining Dale Davis, and young players with potential in Griffin, Taylor and Zach Randolph sharing the 3 and 4 spot.

I will probably throw in a future 1st or 2nd round pick (probably the one acquired from Chicago) just to sweeten up the deal, since the trade will undoubtly benefit us long term by opening up our cap, and allow us to be a BIG PLAYER in next season's BIG free agent market. (Wallace- resign, Kobe, Brand, Garnett! etc)

    -G'day-

Edit: I was wrong about McGrady being a FA in 04.

Oh, the only worry would be that Blazers in wanting to deal away Wallace to improve their image would get two pot heads (Griffin and Taylor) in return :D ;)

It is reported that the Blazers would apparently draft Chris Bosh if they traded for the #4 pick.

Apparently Eddie Griffin, Cuttino Mobley, and Kelvin Cato are in play, according to this and other rumors.

There was that other rumor about Toni Davis and EG being involved in a trade.

We got a 3-way going down (so to speak)?

I guess Antonio Daniels would play center for the Trailblazers and Zach Randolph would alternate with Chris Bosh at the 4.

(I didn't realize Hakeem's contract was still on the books to be traded.)

I don't see trading Cat and EG to a WC team and watching those players come back to whup us every time we meet.

Maybe Cat/EG/Cato to Toronto; Antonio Davis/#4 pick/Hakeem's expiring contract to Portland; Rasheed and the #23 to Houston (along with something/someone else: Cat and EG are each worth mid-lottery picks).

Throw in some spare parts like McInnis or Michael Bradley, someone to play backup center....whatever.

We could explore, in addtion, what player(s) could be had for the midlevel exception (Stromile Swift, P.J. Brown, Jeff McInnis).

Hey guys we might have the inside track on Wallace because of our relationship with new Blazers VP Steve Patterson.....

Our EX-GM!!!! CD use to work for him and he and Steve are very close!!!

He was also VP of the Texans........

We might really get this guy!!!!!!

Rasheed Wallace, just a more seasoned version of Eddie Griffin IMO, and really would be an upgrade. He's got a sweet touch, and with JVG maybe his attitude will change for the better.

I'd do that trade in a minute, and even throw in next year's first round pick, which would further reduce our cap number next summer. With one wave of the wand, we would make all of our prior bad decisions disappear. Portland is probably the one team in the league that might help us do that. They did it before, with Pippen.

Get Wallace and McInnis. Subtract Cato's, Moochie's, Taylor's bloated contracts. Wallace CAN come off the books after next season allowing us to either resign him OR let him walk and try to get Brand or Garnett? Sign me up!

Do you mean that literally or figuratively?????

I can just see Van Gundy trying to hold on to Wallace's legs as he loses it and tries to go after another ref . . . :D

I don't really see this trade happening. But I do like the fact that the Rockets are looking at all the possibilities and seem very active right now. That's what always impresses me about the Rockets' organization. They are never content with standing pat. They are always looking for ways to get better. You win sometimes and you lose sometimes, but we are always willing to take chances. Puts a smile on my face!:D

    So, you're telling me there's a chance.

If SF, Cat and Sheed could learn half the team-game that Yao already knows, this lineup would go far. Hopefully, JVG is the guy to instill that knowledge. Can you imagine some high-low with Sheed and Yao, mix in a little away from the ball movement, a little pick and roll, an inside-outside game and dropping that iso crap.

This is the only trade that i would do for Griffin.

    Portland trades
    Rasheed Wallace

    Houston trades
    Eddie Griffin
    Kelvin Cato

That trade could go down very soon for simple reasons

1st reason Zach Randoplh is coming out to be a pretty good player and he isnt a hot head like Wallace and Griffin is always compared to be the next Wallace so if you can get the next Wallace in a 21 yr older who says nothing on the court you do it Portland.

2nd Reason KELVIN CATO yes Big Cato was the team who drafted him and they really didnt want to let him go and when they traded him he wasnt as good as he is now so they would be getting him back when he is ready to prove he can play.

3rd reason is Steve Patterson and Carrol Dawson are friends and Patterson has ties to Houston and it could be a strach my back type of deal. Houston needs a big time splash and Rasheed Wallace would bring in some MAJOR FIRE on this team we need a firey leader on the court to go with soft MING.

Think about it Rocket fans we lose Eddie Griffin for RASHEED WALLACE(and his contract is over next yr!!!!) then we can draft a solid big man with the 44th pick in draft (Kendrick Perkins) to replace Kelvin Cato and his HUGE contract ethir way you look at this trade it's good all around.

    look at these starting lineups

    Houston Rox
    Steve Francis
    Cat Mobley
    James Posey
    Rasheed Wallace
    Yao Ming

    Portland Blazers
    Damon Stoud
    Derek Anderson/Bonzi wells
    Bonzi Wells/Scott Pippin
    Zach Randolph/Eddie Griffin
    Sabo/Cato

Sounds and looks greaat!!! get this done CD:D

3 Big men in exchange for just one?? That would probably mean Collier would back up Yao and TMo would spell Sheed! Yikes. If either Yao or Wallace went down for ANY length of time....well you can see the picture. And no, PJ Brown would not sign with us to be a backup. Swap Rice for Cato and you have a deal.
