If Portland trades Wallace it's likely that they'll be trading for a point guard since that seems to be their weakest position, maybe a trade like Wallace and Stoudamire for Gary Payton. Either that or they would want a center, Sabonis isn't getting any younger. ------------------ You ain't gotta like me, you just mad cause I tell it how it is, and you tell it how it might be.
How about this completely unrealistic trade that does what each team would want but just would never happen. Houston gets: Sheed Atlanta gets: Antoine Walker, Los Rogers Portland gets: Hersey Hawkins, Dikembe Mutombo, future Chicago first rounder Chicago gets: Jermaine O'Neal, Walt Williams Boston gets: Bryce Drew, Dalibor Bagaric, future Houston first rounder The only questionable team is Boston, but from what I understand they are looking to unload Walker for low-priced players and draft picks so that they clear caproom for Croshere. ------------------
There is no way any team would be stupid enough to trade Rasheed Wallace to keep Brian Grant. Grant is nowhere close to Wallace in talent, and Wallace has greater chances of improvement. Wallace is A LOT better, and i don't think Portland will trade him JUST to keep Grant. Da Franchise, I think you heard wrong. ------------------
I just LOVE the old "we could have traded Pippen for Wallace, but Pippen opened his big mouth and ruined it" bit. First of all, Portland would've had to have been insane to have wanted to trade their best player and future for a past-his-prime small forward with back problems. Second, if other teams knowing you must unload a player supposedly lowers his trade value, how do you explain the Stoudamire-to-Houston situation? Everyone knew Toronto was going to trade Damon, yet the news leaking only led to BETTER offers from other teams, not worse ones. ------------------ I Hate Every Bone in Your Body But Mine
The difference between the Stoudamire situation and the Pippen situation is how many teams wanted Stoudamire versus how few teams wanted Pippen. Expressed disgruntlement by Pippen made us grateful that Portland still wanted him; we had to get rid of him. Toronto didn't have to get rid of Stoudamire; it was in their interest to do so. He didn't come with baggage. The likelihood of his leaving enlivened the bidding. ------------------ There are 3 kinds of people: those who can count and those who can't.
