Only way I would take Ariza back is if the #1 pick is included. Since there is absolutely no chance of that happening.... well, you get the picture.

Okafor... I like the guy, but the #10 pick isn't worth taking on that contract.

if all it took was a kevin martin or luis scola to get the 10th pick with okafor..i'd still take it

how often do you get a chance to have 10th, 14th, and 16th pick?? def a good package to move up or for a certain player

Okafor just has 1 additional year compared to Martin.
And against Scola's contract..I believe Okafor's is more expensive but shorter.

Granted...NOLA would have to be interested in either Scola or Martin....but scola/martin + bud for Okafor + 10th pick...is too good to pass up.

having the 10th pick will make it much easier to package lowry and 14th for portland's 6th.

picking #6, #10, #16 could really help us turn things around quickly.

Best trade piece for a Dwight trade us a lottery pick plus Lowry (bargain) and Kmart(expiring). Oh and both are better than Orlando's pg's and sg's.

I don't know any team who could beat our possible offer of a lottery pick or both 14th and 16th pick, Lowry,Martin and possibly Patterson or Budinger for a Dwight Howard rental and take on Hedo's contract.

Sure, other teams can offer a better deal than that but i doubt they would do it for a rental. Morey would take the gamble.

The only way I do something like this is if it's a 3-way deal to get an even higher pick.

For instance, some team wants to move down a little. Lowry + #10 for the #4 or 5 greased by us taking Okafor for the #14 and player to be named later. You do the math.

Okafor will cost us $4M more than Scola but 1 less year.

Having the #10 will also make it easier to package OKAFOR to somewhere else...#10, #14, #16. I'd rather trade $13.49M than Scola's $9.4M, maybe get more valuable of an asset (or 2) in the exchange.

$13.49M puts us in the neighborhood of: Boozer, Jefferson, Aldridge, M. Gasol, Chandler, J. Smith, Bogut, D. Lee, gay, AI, Ginobili, Deng, Granger, Rose, and Parker.

I say Lowry + Okafor + 10 + 14 + 16 is a good place to start. Then Okafor is only on the payroll through 2012-2013 because he has ETO for 2013-2014 which can be invoked, so talk about cap relief. LOL, Rashard Lewis anyone?

Use this is a trade for Howard:

    Houston: Howard + Hedo

    NOH: Scola + Morris

    Orlando: Okafor + Lowry + Martin + 10 + 14 +16

We maintain salary cap flexibility because to sign DWill without needing Amnesty. We still have Dalembert's contract ready to trade to relieve salary from another team to help us pick up an effective 2 possibly.

I think I'd take back Okafor for the #10 in hopes of packaging that pick with "other assets" to move higher , or to bring in an available star from another team.

This somewhat depends on what stars are available (not just Deron and Dwight) and if you believe you can get your guy , as well as who you would have to send out in the deal.
Scola works straight up but if they want to cut salary seems they wouldnt want him.
Dalembert's contract isnt rich enough alone to make the money work , would have to add another 1.8m or so tho if they made a deal before Dalemberts option kicked in , New Orleans would be able to shed much of his contract.

    Dalembert + Morris for Okafor +#10 ?

Okafor does solve some of the issues this current roster has , defending the post and rebounding while not being a total zero offensively. But obviously if you do this deal its for the draft pick.

Okafor is really overpaid, but I could stomach 13 mil for the 3 yr stretch. Okafor is still a pretty good center and #10 becomes the best asset we have outside of Lowry.

There is 6 guys in this draft that would be at least a good chunk of the answer to the question of who exactly are we building around?. Even if they just crash and burn, it is time to take a shot.

Why do they keep trying to get rid of Okafor? Wasn't he a pretty good player last season? (10-11)

What does #10, #14 and #16 get you when you try to move up in the draft?

10ppg 7rpg last season .... Shooting better than 50% from the field.

He's overpaid but .... not a bad complimentary piece. Imagine him in the role of Perkins for OKC.

Ariza is absolutely horrible on offense.

I'd rather yield Kevin Martin, whose contract nearly matches Okafor's. I don't want to hand over that #14.

Maybe a combo of a player / players with one or more of the picks can get you into the top 5....IF there's a player worth it.

Or ditto, but aiming not for a high draft pick but for a Bosh, or for....whatever player (fill in the blank: ______________) sucks much less than who we have now.

Let's just throw Ariza out of the equation. He's godawful, and we've already got Parsons at the 3. Martin is getting shipped out so Lee can be paid to start at the 2. Budinger is backing both positions up until Morris is ready to chip in at the 3.

if the intrest from the magic is low. From a player standpoint Okafor is a solid rebounding rim protector who can start at center. If they would take Scola for okafor and 10 you do it. It opens up minutes for D mo and Patterson, we could offer lowry and 14 to sac and portland. If they didn't like that deal, Lowry and 10 is even more appealing.
