This column is just an editorial so I doubt Seattle is shopping Lewis, but the Sonics really are overloaded at the 2 and the 3. If they're not planning on re-signing Barry, you would think they would in fact be looking to move him. Rashard I have to doubt, unless like the Suns-Marbury, they go for the cost-cutting move. Houston in that case could be a good fit given the trade exception, but that would probably be in the offseason (and it's major speculation). I don't know though if CD could acquire Rashard after passing on him twice already. He's guaranteed to look bad in some form or fashion whether Rashard succeeds or fails here... though obviously better if he succeeds. And hell, it worked with Drexler given that we passed on him in the draft in 1983, then later acquired him. Different management though.
Hey, Clutch, were the Rockets really offered Lewis for Eddie Griffin previously? Tell me the truth; I can take it...
Considering CD isn't looking too good for the Griffin fiasco and quite frankly ANY draft picks over the last few years (sans Mobley and Yao) I think CD has nowhere to go but up. Passing on Lewis should in no way deter him from acquiring him if the right situation arises. Personally I dont see Lewis going anywhere. I think Radmonivch will be traded.
CD...or Rudy? I have assumed that Rudy et al passed on Lewis -- twice. Rudy, bless his heart, is out and JVG is in. I assume he would be involved with the call on acquiring any players, including Lewis (unless there are issues like Griffins or Wards...). I do not believe CD is a one man show in any way regarding player acquisitions. Lewis' personal situation with the recent death in Houston may change everyone's equations.
