That's an interesting deal for the Lakers.

Odom could be nice support for Kobe. Grant is pf/c. Slava, Fish, George, Rush. whatever else.

They need Miami's first round pick, too.

I could see Jeff taking down Stan with that classic grab-on-the-leg move. It works well unless you try it on a 7-footer.

With teams like Phoenix and Utah improving so much this offseason, it would be great to finally see a team in the West actually get worse.

No one would be there because they would be PLAYING on Christmas day.

Are you kidding me? Van Gundy vs Van Gundy, Yao vs Shaq, Tmac vs Wade? That's a sellable marquee Christmas Day game if I ever saw one!

Dallas, perhaps Lakers. And Sacramento might slightly be coming back to the pack as well.

Im wondering if it would disrupt the chemistry they have now and most of the people on the team are run and gun (Mav's style) and now to have Shaq would slow them down.

    ESPN.com news services

The Lakers, intent on trading a disgruntled Shaquille O'Neal, might make a deal with the Heat that would include Lamar Odom, Brian Grant and probably a first-round draft pick, sources told the Riverside Press-Enterprise for Thursday's editions.

The team is considering a handful of the 17 or 18 offers it has received for the center, the paper reports.

"Just like the coach deal with Phil [Jackson] being let go, Dr. Buss thinks it's time to deal Shaq," a team source told the paper.

The team is close to replacing Jackson with coach Rudy Tomjanovich. ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher reports that the deal to hire Tomjanovich is basically finished, with negotiations now centering on who will be on the coaching staff.

At the same time, free agent Kobe Bryant met with four teams, including the Lakers and the Clippers.

Tomjanovich tried to contact O'Neal, the paper reported, and Shaq left a message in response.

"I just feel terrible for Rudy because I wanted to play for him," O'Neal said, according to the paper. "But I ain't coming back there."

Sources told the Press-Enterprise that O'Neal's representatives have shot down potential deals. The Kings, one of the teams O'Neal is willing to play for, reportedly backed away from talks.

ESPN's Stephen A. Smith reports that any deal involving O'Neal could also involve a third team since the Pacers or Mavericks have been involved in these discussions, but that nothing is imminent.

With Shaq moving to Miami, Yao would be the most dominant center in the west. We would also be a notch better than LA.

Heard that the deal was imminent. Shaq for Odom, Grant and #1 or Butler. Lakers wants Butler. Heat would only give #1.

Yeah, I would say that 21 pages on the LA Lakers version of our Rockets BBS & they agree that a deal with Miami is imminent in the next 24 hours even. According to a LA Sports Radio Report...

this was from a lakers BBS on the trade to the heat

"the shooting percentages suck from the 3 miami players proposed.

man, we are gonna suck. if the rockets (who were a pretty good team) were a # 7 seed, the lakers aren't gonna make the playoffs."

and just think now we are the BETTER team!!! Crazy how fast things can change in the NBA

This obviously may not be the best deal of the world but then they have to do this quick to satisfy Kobe. They can't afford much time waiting for the best Shaq deal so Clippers and Nugguts could sneak in for Kobe.
