“When I first heard about the vacancy for the Orlando Magic general manager position, I was clearly intrigued.” he said in a statement. “I was drafted by the Magic, I have a great love for the franchise, and I have made the city of Orlando my home. Additionally, I have great admiration and respect for the DeVos family. However, this is not a job I have an interest in pursuing. I feel very fortunate to be with TNT and to have the best job in sports. I look forward to many more years with Charles, Kenny and E.J. I wish the best for the Magic and I am confident that they will select a great GM and coach.”

Rockets should hire Yao as asst GM and start selling Yao the GM Jerseys! And when doing trade Yao basically open the convo with "Hey other than salary, I can get you a 3Mil shoe deal".

I didn't say he was a better GM than Morey, I said he was a better owner than Les.

Jordan's team doesn't suck by miscalculation, he lost Felton, but then traded Wallace (their best player), for 2 1st round picks (and he then started using them on development players, ie Biyombo) and spare parts. Then got rid of Chandler basically to save money and suck more, It was one of the most obvious tanking jobs ever.

Owners generally aren't responsible for draft picks, they're responsible for the general direction "trade assets for decent future assets, get development players whilst sucking" is infinitely better than "finish 9th 3 years in a row and refuse to let the GM do the above when it's exactly what he wants to do".

Les is a good owner when the pieces are in play, he's quite willing to spend, but what he seems incapable of doing is allowing a team that needs to rebuild, to actually do it.

I'd take a 33% chance at Anthony Davis and a similar % for the guy whose going number 1 next year to what we are right now.
