Make no mistake Franchiseblade, what shaq did clearly showed bigotry, he wasn't making fun of his inabillity to speak chinese but instead poking fun of most first generation chinese's inability to speak english, as a chinese american, i've been poked fun of in such a manner. However, as I stated, racism is far from gone in this coountry. I think that statements like shaq's, fuzzy's and rockers are neccessary and should be more of them. Only bigots themselves can prove there ignorance, if shaq, rocker or fuzzy hold their mouth like millions of other people in america do for fear of reprecussions, their ignorance would never show and we would go on pretending racism never existed. However, when the media only focus on white people's remarks, racism will never end. Realize racism is a two way street and everyone, and mean everyone, rides on it.
i agree, if they did do the chinese mimic, they're just acting racist. imagine the uproar if yao ming came from africa instead of china and the irving made monkey imitation sounds. he would probably get fired, but there is a double standard. in the nba, it is ok to make fun of anyone else who isn't black(white men can't jump, asians can't play, etc)
