Pippen is an all-time top 50. It's unfair to measure his success without Jordan in Chicago when the bulls needed to fill the roster with a true second star, and as good as Kukoc was, he was't a second star a team needs to contend (though he was an excellent role player). By the time he got to the Rockets, he was playing with stars past their primes and when he was a Blazer, he was on a decline. He's one of the best defenders I've ever seen and could affect the outcome of every game without having to score.

Doesn't matter. When compared to Shaq, they were in a different tier of player. You stick Shaq on any team in his prime, and they were contending. He was always the best player on any team he was on until he got really old and played with Lebron who is the top player for his generation. Pippen was never the best player on his team, or best player in the league.

Shaq was not the best player on his team when he went to Miami... at age 32. Dwayne Wade was. His first year in the playoffs with Miami he did 19 ppg, 8 rpg. And he had an 18 PER.

Still a great, way above average player, mind you... but Wade was just clearly the better player.

Doesn't diminish the fact that anyone would chose Shaq over Pippen when picking teams, but as I've already noted, it's closer than he thinks. And even closer when you say across eras. Shaq simply would be exposed more frequently in today's NBA on defense, and by the defensive rules allowed today. He'd still be dominant, though.

Scottie Pippen was one of the greatest 3s of all-time. Why the beef? Because he's not a top 10 player? Who cares. Shaq is a ****.

Agree to disagree on both of these - and what legit center from that era did Pippen ever guard?

The contrived things that happen during the show involving shaq are lame. Who gets audio cables wrapped around their leg? Lame.

Again, I think people are getting caught up with nostalgia with Pippen. I never said he wasn't an all--time great player, but it's silly to think he was in the same league as Shaq, Kobe, Bird, MJ, or Olajuwon, because he wasn't. Even as small forwards go, can you say defiantly that he was a top 5-7 ever. Remember, we are talking players, like Bird, LeBron, Havlicek, Baylor, and Dr. J.

Arguably, you've got players like Pierce, Barkley, Worthy, King, Dantley, Nique, Barry, and etc. Remember, also, Pippen also never played on a team where he was the only star of the team. Remotely, I could use the 95 season as an example, people seem to be overlooking ... the Bulls struggled mightily early on and seemed to have pulled out of it, once the Airness laced his basketball sneakers, back up.

He had good numbers in the playoffs, hardly spectacular. People will say well, he played with MJ. But, they are teams who had a 2nd scorer or 3rd go-to scorer who could be as dominant or near as dominant as number 1, think young Kobe, older Wade, McHale, older Kareem, and etc.

As far as second bananas go, he still think he's not quite the best in terms of talent, especially when we are talking about list that includes Kobe, McHale/Parrish, Baylor, pretty much anyone on the Celtics teams after Bill Russell, or Pierce/Allen. I do think he maybe the best complimentary star of all time, because he wasn't exactly a go-to scorer or commanded the ball (especially at crucial moments in the game), like say some of the upper tier guys.

Shaq is arguably a top 5-12 (at worst guy), Pippen is a little bit lower on the list. Do people actually think you could put Pippen on the worst teams in the league have that team competition for a playoff spot? Again, you can even reference, today's game and style of play, one Pippen isn't going to help a struggling team with no star, tremendously. Even with today's rules, having a Shaq on your team would still make you a playoff contender with a below average roster, while steady championship contender with an average or slightly below average roster. I think people forgot that he in his rookie season carried a pitiful Orlando Magic team to 41 wins and almost into a playoff spot in the East.

That was one season, a very great season for him, but how did he fare in the following year? Again, good numbers, but he couldn't help his teams win as much with less talent.

Shaq was a beast. Nobody could stop him.

If another player like Shaq came around in 2015, small ball would basically go away, he'd be the championship threat and teams would have to restructure their rosters to combat his size.

This is so true!!!! Only reason small ball works so well now is nobody can punish them for it! Back when Shaq played, every team brought in beef. Remember fat a$$es Stanley Roberts and Two Sandwiches on the Rockets??? You don't see dudes like that in the league anymore. Nobody brings in muscle to stop Dwight Howard when an undersized power forward can do it.

Mase didn't walk away because he was bad. He was actually a much better rapper than Puff Daddy who really isn't a rapper at all. Something someone who actually listens to hip-hop should know.
