Curry got 21 today against Memphis. It's his 4-5 consecutive games getting 20 pts or more and his shooting % for the season was like 57%. So he's clearly not just looked good in 1 night. Don't diss the guy. I sincerely hope the guy have a great career and prove to be a worthy rival to Yao. Yao needs competition to make him a better player. Those Hakeem vs Ewing, Shaq and Robinson games were great to watch. Way better than Shaq vs nobodies.

You gotta be kidding me. If you read Chicago Tribune, there is not much positive mood at all this whole season.

Big-city (like Chicago) fans are impatient. Actually their roster is very talented. How many top 5 lottory picks of the past few years do they have?.

I think they will be more optimistic with their babies from now on. Especially Curry who has like 4 consecutive 20+ pts games now. His FG% for the season is like 57%. I think he's in the process like Yao did since that Dallas game. From now on, he would see more double team etc and might hit a wall. If he can overcome that wall, he will become a more consistent player like Yao did.

Should be a good matchup next day.

Curry needs to remove excess body fat, if he can grow to 7ft and improved mentally, he can be a decent center next year. like Olowakandi

Shaq doesn't know what the hell he is talking about. He also said that Allen Iverson is one of the top 5 players of all time.

So he must also be wrong for saying Hakeem is one of the best C's ever? Riiiiiiiiiiiight.......

Listen, forget Shaq...Why's it so hard for you to deal with the fact that Curry is improving in the EXACT pattern which was expected. Poor first year, inconsistent second year with lots of flashes, consistent 3rd year, one of the best C's in the league 4th year.

That was always the plan, and he's just not ahead of schedule. But he's right on track, and he'll be Yao's rival for years to come.

I suppose, he did have a high shooting percentage, but...
    1. The game was a blow-out...in favor of the grizz.
    2. I saw Curry get a lot of layups and dunks setup by penetration...not because of his 'great' basketball ability.
    3. I saw him be a good rebounder in the game, a lot of lucky bounces but he did have...what 10 boards? I only saw about 1/2 the game and what I did see, he wasn't actually ripping down or skying for the rebounds he did a decent job of boxing out and they just kind of bounced to him.

If he finishes the season like he is going now, I'll be impressed. But I'm not saying that he's something special because of 4 or 5 games...hell Lorenzen Wright has 30/15 games on rare occasions should I think he's a future all-star? Consistency makes people great not the occasional big game or a stretch of games. Anyone can go on a good stretch of games, but I'm not going to jump the gun and say...oh, oh, future hall of famer.

Hey don't forget the guy's only something like 19 or 20. Kobe and JO etc were hardly consistent in their 2nd year. And I can't see a 19/20-year-old not improving if he has the work ethic. If EG has a run of games like that, we will all be elated and proclaim him as a future All-Star too if we haven't done already. ;)

You guys missed the point 100%. Shaq didn't say he was a "star," you put those words in his mouth.

He said there are only 3 people worthy of being called a legit center. He didn't say anything about effectiveness. Most people would agree with this statement. That's not earth shattering.

Kareem, Hakeem, Patrick, Morning days are gone. Ben Wallace, Brian Grant and even Duncan as center is crazy. They are power forwards just like Garnett.

Tim Duncan is the second best center in the league and has been since the minute he came in the league. You can call it what you like but even when DRob had something left in the tank he played the high post and Duncan played the low post. Don't confuse the fact that he is versatile with the fact that he isn't a center. It is no difference then the original Twin Towers, Sampson and Dream were both versatile Centers.

you do realize that tim duncan is 7'0", 270+#, right? that is the PROTOTYPICAL center. tim is a center that matches up against power forwards. in fact, he's a center that's so scared to play shaq, he just plays smaller post players and lets malik rose deal with the diesel...

Agreed! This is the ONE thing that really irritates me about Duncan. The guy is a CENTER, PERIOD! Like Verse said, 7'0" 270. He has the height and the bulk and plays in the low post. Just because he can play outside the paint does not mean he isn't a center. It just means he is a versitle center. I like Duncan, but until he can step up and bang with the centers he doesn't have my FULL respect.

People ask, where have all the centers gone? They are still here. They just don't like to be called a "center" as they feel that label somehow shortchanges there game because they want to be able to go outside and do more than just play in the paint. Look at Dirk at 7'0" and Kevin Garnett at 7'1" They are both "centers" but are versitile.

You missed the point. I'm not debating Duncan's worth. But since you challenged me on that...

Duncan's versitility makes him more valuable as a 4 than a 5...like Garnett. That's my opinion. Is he effective as a 5? Absolutely...but that partually goes back to what Shaq is saying...the center position, as a body of NBA work, is weak right now.

I'm not trying to argue about Duncan. I agree that you can make a strong argument to that effect.

The point is that Shaq IS NOT saying that Curry is the 3rd best center in the league...as many have concluded here.

Scared? Mabye Duncan plays PF because of a certain hall of fame center in SA. I know Robinson is a shell of his former self, but he's still played 51 games this yr, 78 last yr and 80 the 2 yrs before that.
