haha. I can't believe people are actually talking his "freestyle" seriously. It's one thing to take Shaq seriously, but its another to take his freestyle serious. It's not like he called a press conference and aired Kobe out.
To the white guys on here, are you guys offended with the "white boy" statement? I've always wondered about that, Do you guys find it offensive, just like how Black guys find it offensive when someone calls them a boy. I'd been meaning to ask about that so thank you Shaq for putting it out there.
I'm not offended. But i'm not offended easily. Why would I be offended about what a Basketbal player (who doesn't know me) says
And the backlash begins for Shaq's stupidity and lack of class. Stern will fine him as well. He's a moron. Kobe has enough class to not even respond to this garbage. And on top of that it isn't even about Shaq and Kobe, it is about how Shaq is a grown man, supposed to be a role model and he's out talking or "rapping" like this. His own kids should be proud. What a joke.
This rap is like slightly under Saturday Night Live type serious. This sherrif's an way old coot who thought Shaq was acting too "street", like the criminals he likes to exploit.
The specific line was "That's like a white boy tryin' to be more ni--a than me." Why the hell would anyone white be offended by THAT?
Not offended in the slightest. As to the revoking of his badge - ARE YOU SERIOUS? Cops can kill innocent people and (assuming there isn't an overwhelming amount of previous incidents that indicate a pattern of behavior) the worst that ever happens is they get suspended without pay or some crap. I am not offended by Shaq's rap. I am offended by the actions of that Sheriff, which I find to be HIGHLY hypocritical. Now excuse me while I go blast some NWA.
I don't have a problem with this. I know it isn't like Shaq is a real police officer but I think there is a certain level of restraint you should show in public when you pass yourself off as a member of law enforcement (shaq does). I wouldn't hire a guy to be a cop in my town or even make him an honorary deputy if I had a publically released video of him making inappropriate statements that some could consider racist. Good move by old man law.
The sheriff did the right thing in preserving the veneer of professionalism among his deputies. I'm sure it is true that if any of his other guys had a youtube like that up, he'd be canned. So, the rule has to apply to Shaq as well. It reminds me of a boss I had that got fired. He was a rising star, looking like a probable heir to the CFO job. He ran afoul (rumor has it) of the computer usage rules by watching p*rn on his laptop and was canned. Great performer with great potential, but he was dismissed on a technicality. And, so it is with Shaq. I do have a problem with the sheriff taking Shaq on in the first place, which seems like more of a publicity stunt than a serious HR decision.
Exactly. It isn't Shaq's Constitutional right to be a member of law enforcement. It's a responsibility and with any responsibility comes a code (either written or implied) that must be adhered to. Maybe this Sheriff thought Shaq might help spread a more positive view of law enforcement (especially among inner city kids) as a spokesperson.
I think the hierarchy of Athlete rappers goes Shaq CWebb,Kobe,Artest,Iverson,Deion Sanders,Roy Jones JR and everyone else.
It isn't class that will stop Kobe from responding, it's common sense and a measure of discipline. Shaq has always been more undisciplined compared to Kobe, which is one reason Kobe got tired of him in LA. Kobe knows Shaq comes off looking foolish and he's probably glad it happened. But class has nothing to do with it.
They still do mix tapes in 2008? Last mixed tape I ever had was right before I left Houston for NYC and it was a mix that had Marley Marl's "He Cuts So Fresh", the new Two Live Crew Song "Get it Girl" with a little "Throw That D"....this was 1987! Guess some peeps still like the old technology.
