Yoa should get his shots, since the Lakers won't double team him.

If there is no FOUL play(rough stuff) by Shaq, then Yao Ming(if he gets the ball)should use his head and play clever basketball, going for high percentage shots. A lot depends on the Refs and if they call it by the book. If this is so, then Shaq might find himself in 'Foul Trouble'. If Cato and Yao Ming play at the same time then Shaq could have many shots blocked! If Rudy T. puts on his thinking cap we can win this one!

I am excited for the matchup. Shaq will no doubt get his points and boards. Yao needs to understand that he cannot totally stop Shaq. If he understands this, he can stay out of foul trouble.

With that being said, Yao needs to take it right at Shaq on the offensive end. Shaq is out of shape. If Yao will use his quickness, spin moves, up and under etc... he should be able to get some easy shots against Shaq and maybe frustrate him. This might also lead to foul trouble for Shaq.

All in all, should be a good match up. Go Rocks!!

If Yao gets the ball consistently and in good position he will put up a good fight. If the guards take over then forget it, he'll end up with 10/5 or something like that.

I hope Yao does prove evryone wrong and play well against the lakers with Shaq. The odds are against him since he is a Rookie against a veteran. I remember when a Veteran known as the Dream destroyed the young Shaq sweeping the Magic. so if Shaq does destroy him, he has nothing to brag about unless he has a short term memory.

I do agree witht he one post that it is the teams responsibility to stop Shaq and if Shaq is guarding Yao that should pull him out of the paint and open up cutters or Yao will knock down the 16 footers all day.

The people who are saying that Shaq will destroy Yao act like Shaq is going to end Yao's career Friday or something. Shaq hasn't ended anyone's career so I doubt he starts Friday. He has outplayed a lot of people and it wouldn't surprise me if he does Friday. But if Cat and Steve and someone like Posey and Griff step up then it helps Yao a ton and takes the pressure off of him.

    No. Yao will do fine.

I mean, do you think that the Lakers will double
team Yao with Shaq out there?

No. Shaq will not allow that. Thus, Yao
can shoot over Shaq. Shaq will foul
Yao too. And that means FTs for Yao. :)

Now, I do think that Shaq will get an offensive
    foul by knocking down Yao.

I hope they don't call touch fouls.

Then, Yao will be on the bench for most
    of the game.

Let them play. Regardless of what happens.

I say that Yao gets 15 points 10 rebs.
    Shaq should get 30/15.

    Oh, and also remember this...

The world will be watching this game.

    It's a BIG GAME!!!!

And Yao loves challenges...he plays well
against the best teams; Dallas, San Antonio,
    Lakers, Sac.

You watch, Yao will get 35 points and we'll
    all be eating crow! :D

Who cares if Yao's schooled by Shaq? You know you couldn't graduate without getting schooled. Olajuwon used to school Shaq as well.

As long as we win, that's what that matters. And hopefully we win. :)

We must and will win. Rockets need to play like they are gonna lose the next 10 games, so they have to win each game when they still have the chance.

    .

I don't think that it is stupid that folks are now making their predictions about Yao's impending destruction by Shaq because earlier in the season, Rox fans were posting so much hype about Yao. Some even dared to suggest, very naively, that Yao would win versus Shaq.

It was some of the Rox and Yao fans who were saying Shaq's an oaf and skilless and that Yao could outdo Shaq. Now I am glad that people are getting back to reality and realising that Shaq is going to completely destroy Yao. Like Marbury said its "no contest, man".

And to those of you who questioned why amare has been beating yao for Rookie of Month. Now you know.

Bottomline: Stop over-estimating the China man.

Amare has never beaten Yao for ROM. He may win it this time. We'll see. and to say that Shaq will not destroy Yao is not over estimating Yao. I don't think Shaq will do much better than Amare did to Yao. I wouldn't say Amare detroyed Yao. Here's an example of "destroying" another player, Yao had 30 points against Bradley's 0 point.
and stop calling Yao the China man, that's offensive. he's a name.

Sorry. "The China man" is not meant to be offensive. It's like "the man from Brussels" or the "German machine".

Oh and I did not say Amare destroyed Yao. But Yao will. Won't be 30 and 0, but I think it will be nasty nonetheless.

Impending destruction? What is your meaning of "destory"? Break Yao's leg? And you sound like you are happy to see it happen.

If there is no rough stuff?

This is the NBA. Some of the rough stuff is legal, and the rest is 90% overlooked.

If I had it my way, Yao would be getting rough treatment from the league for 82 games in his rookie season. It's good for his growth.

Tbis matchup doesn't matter. Yao won't be humiliated, but, at best, he'll play Shaq as well as Kandi plays him. But it's the next time they meet that will matter.
