Garnett's going to be better this season than last. One year further from the surgery will really help him.
these guys are old but at least boston's in the right frame of mind. to counter the lakers' length and to pose matchup problems for miami (rupaul will get abused by big frontlines) you gotta have a ton of bigs these days.
Is anyone else shocked by the fact that Shaq still hasn't ruptured and achilles or blown out a knee or snapped a hamstring? Or SOMETHING? I remember when he was still a dominant force with the Lakers (but getting fatter) that a lot of people were speculating that it was only a matter of time before he had an awkward landing and his career would be over. Good for him. He's aged more gracefully than I expected.
A few of years ago this would be the sickest team ever. Hypothetically if this was a couple years ago...what would the starting line up be? (side note: perkins' injury must be bad)
They probly want shaq to run back up point.... <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/bP8ovIxPwsA&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/bP8ovIxPwsA&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BeYtxwxluD4&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BeYtxwxluD4&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/cAglVkIIy0Y&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/cAglVkIIy0Y&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0mdA58MTmHc&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0mdA58MTmHc&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
why dont you get it? they have 4-5 players for 2 spots. We have scola, yao, miller, pp, hill, and chuck or 6 guys for two spots. We've pushed the depth too far, but they're about where it should be.

are you serious? shaq was brought in as a back up with cleveland and im pretty sure they both know they're in back up roles. I would be surprised if that wasnt discussed during their meetings.
it would have to be the oldest team ever to win a ring. i can see them doing it if they can stay healthy. the basketball IQ's of these guys are amazing and they compliment each other greatly. i don't think shaq will have any problem taking a backup role, along with jermaine. they'll split time pretty easily.
Bill Sharman won four with the Celtics as a player and one with the Lakers as their head coach. Not sure about any players.
Even after he re-joins the team during the year, Perkins won't return to form this coming season. In fact, he may never return to what he was because his injury was serious. I don't think Shaq fits the Celts and my prediction is they will play better without him on the floor than with (mirroring the Cavs last season). Boston better hope JO somehow stays healthy and plays a lot of minutes.
Definitely a loaded front-court now, if it wasn't for age I'd put them as the front-runners in the East. Also, losing Thibodeau will have an impact.
The difference is Shaq will be playing with the 2nd unit in Boston, meaning he'll be going against subs instead of starters. There is a question about whether he'll be a liability on defense. He still can do a some good things though. And this will fulfill his dream of playing with Von Wafer.
I don't think what unit Shaq plays with will make a difference. The guy kills chemistry on offense and IS a clear liability on defense. The defense issue isn't even debatable IMO. He's just too slow. His only purpose on defense would be to defend big centers who like to post up. The thing is, JO is still a very good post defender when healthy, he can defend PnRs and can nail jumpers on offense. When he gets injured and Shaq's minutes increase as a result, the Celts will be in trouble.
