Did you not read how he praised a center like Rik Smits? Rik is far from a banging bruiser in the paint. But he mainly played with his back to the basket. I don't even get what your going for? All I said was Yao is at his most dominant when he is in the low post.
His championships should all be classified as half ass, since he has always aligned himself with the best of the NBA. Without Kobi/Wade he wouldn't have any rings. Lebron new he was done allready that's why he bailed, good luck in Boston maybe you can jump on Pierce's cape and and win another.
why is this soooo difficult for people to understand? 7'6" standing right under a 10' basket is pretty damn high percentage. take a few steps out and you start losing that. this is honest to goodness so simple it shouldn't need to be said...it's the very reason that basketball is a tall man's game, generally...but it's argued here all the time.
anybody think shaq is old fat&bitter the blob needs too retire shaq will sellout anybody YAO would kill "em"every time if he did not have to get in his car too drive around him for a shot!!! "cover the paint" HELL HE IS THE PAINT
What is your point? Nobody wins a championship with a bad team. Jordan doesn't win without Pip, Dream doesn't win without our role players, and Kobe and Wade don't win without Shaq.
True centers only dunk. Howard may not be as true as Shaq thinks he is. We should send Shaq the tape of the preseason game between Orlando and Houston. Hopefully Shaq can talk to Howard and persuade him to stay true as a center.
Its kinda like the old question..."why does a dog lick his own balls? because he can" Why does Yao shoot jumpers? because he can We all wish we could lick our own balls Shaq wishes he could shoot jumpers
Really, Shaq? Because I think a guy shooting jumpers handed you your a$$ in 1995 in the biggest playoff series of the year, the NBA Finals. Must be comforting to have a selective memory like Shaq, and even nicer to have no one from the media call you out on it. That being said, when you read the whole article, he's very complimentary to Yao. Said he's a great center, but that his style is different from "traditional" big men - whatever that means. I guess it means "like Wilt or me". Old-school centers like Kareem don't count in Shaq's book, even if they won six titles and six MVPs.
I wonder if shaq consider this a jumper. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/dWODzPCJfHE?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dWODzPCJfHE?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Shaq is a carcass with a big mouth that needs to retire. He never had the game that would translate into longevity. Too much raw athleticism and not enough skill. He basically just takes up space on the floor these days and gives teams an easy defense to get back in the game (hack-a-shaq). It's pretty telling that as thin as the Heat are up front, Lebron did not court the Shaqtus, the Big Aristotle, Shazaam...whatever you want to call him, even after Shaq expressed interest in going to South Beach. I would take a 24 minute per game half Yao over a 100% healthy Shaq.
Meh, what else is new? Shaq is only stating the obvious. It doesn't mean Yao is not dominant when fully healthy though. Shaq obviously still respects Yao, nothing to get offended about.
"Kazzam" (or something) Shaq is old and trying to stay relevant. He should be thankful Boston agreed to sign his fat arse. He's got some left in the tank, and I could write nicer things about him, but he's always taking shots at up and coming big men. Yao doesn't fit into that category, so he ought to lay off.
