Yea! Shane Battier is such a dirty player. Anyone that irritates Kobe should be called for a foul!

Now that was perfectly legal for 2 reasons: 1. it was from the side(slightly) not from behind & 2. it was an "elbow" to the face, not a hand.

ould it be against the rules to write disturbing messages like "I will eat your children" or draw pictures of severed Phil Jaskson head in your palm and then. face guard?

I am not sure how face guarding can be dirtier than elbowing and knee bumping your opponents head on purpose. If a Laker fan can look me into the eyes, and say yes, I suggest Shane put some skunk grease on his hand before the game.

This "face guarding" is as clean of defense as it gets. To make this illegal would be like making Lebron's drives to the basket illegal. LeBron's drives are unstoppable because of his combination of quickness and strength. Shane's "face defense" is effective because of Shane's intelligence and good timing. This is a skill that makes Shane the player he is.

And if this "face guarding" is really easy and cheating defense, why haven't other players been able to successfully use this defense. They shouldn't take this away from the game just because one guy is good at it.

Good post. Shane avoids the foul. Most players figure out early that they can't do it effectively without sending their man to the line.

Thank you for proving most people think they know the rule, but they actually do not know the whole rule.
