While I still like Battier, I think he has lost a step this season. He just doesn't seem as efficient on the floor as he used to, barring a game or two this season where he did play well. In addition, Lowry started the season great, constantly pushing up the floor, but lately he's seemed to slow down and it's hurting us. Budinger and Landry always seem incredibly efficient, though.
chase actually is shooting 43% and 36% on threes, but only 62% FT. I'm not saying that's a true sign of his shooting abilities, but that it shows he's actually been up and down this year. that's why his % isn't higher, so i wouldn't say he's been any more efficient than Lowry. they play different positions so it makes it seem like budinger has been, but looking at Pg stats he's been about as effiective as bud, maybe slightly more. I dont mean to single you out, but i read a lot of posts that say a player was doing well "early" on, but now it struggling. I even hear it about the team as a whole, but we're talking 11 games. Out of 82. That's not enough for any player or the team to establish any significant trend, unless it's been happening pretty much every game, like Landry's play for example, he's only had about 2 bad games...
It's one thing to be a running team, but when you are also undersized at 3 and in most cases 4 positions at any given time the defensive end takes more out of you. This team is constantly switching and pushing on guys that are bigger and stronger than they are. Fatigue is already a factor and gonna be one the further we get into the season.
Actually it includes games last year when Lowry joined us, because both Lowry and Battier are basically the same players they were last year. In fact Battier and Lowry haven't changed much since they entered the NBA. Sure the uptempo playing style we are doing this year is still in it's infancy, but Lowry and Battier's contrasting playing style is more the point.
Their defensive strengths are negated when on the court together. Lowry is an awesome man defender, he can guard both guard positions and he is usually on the primary perimeter threat. Shane is a great team defender, so he specialises in plugging holes on the perimeter, and there is a lot of holes to plug with Ariza and Brooks not being the best man defenders. When on the court together, Lowry doesn't really need much help from Shane and basically negates his team defense strengths. On offense, Lowry like to do pick and rolls and find cutters to the basket, Battier is not a pick and roll offensive weapon nor does he cut to the basket.
lowry is best with landry, chase and scola on the floor. battier doesn't mesh well with lowry. i've noticed that.
I've noticed Lowry's individual play torpedo drives into the paint more and more. It seems they get a little more behind when he comes in then he takes it upon himself to be the spark that brings it back. Lowry doesnt waste much time dribbling the air out the ball. He brings it fast up the court, and if his players arent keeping up with him getting into the mix he's looking to hurl himself into the paint area and create some action.
yeah ,this the key.why Cbudinger goes well with lowry,b/c he is a quick moving man, great 3 point shooter in a running mode.but shane is a great 1v1 defender ,not good at finshing
