Who said I believed any members or that I was buying into the crap? I already said it's all speculation. Let me set you straight since you seem to be misreading my posts. I never said Shane was being traded or was in any confirmed trade talks. I haven't seen or heard actual discussions about Shane other then the Rubio stuff myself, I know it's just a members just talking the talk. All I was saying is that Morey would most likely want to get younger if Shane was actually on the trading block. That's just my take on the situation. Not me "believing" any members here or being gullible like you're trying to make me out as. Then you come along jumping into my posts head first without understanding what I saying. Comprende now? So, let's recap. You misread my post into thinking I believed Shane was actually on the trading block. I tried to set you straight, then you get bent out of shape again and confirmed that you misread my post AGAIN, then I am setting you straight here again that the initial post was just my take on IF Shane was being dealt what Morey would want in return. I'm going to guess next that you'll get bent out of shape again and go into another speech about Shane not actually being shopped around, so we can go in circles again?
"RocketGirl6" I agree with the hole Shane Battier thing(Love his hustle & heart), but we need to move him for younger pieces, and another thing is that lets not overrate Shane's defense on kobe, b/c there's a couple of buzzer beaters that beg a differ.... and the hole foster Idea is simply TERRIBLE, I'll rather take my chances with Hayes, Dorsey, Landry & Scola manding the middle by committee than Foster, ugh....Peace Out
I just noticed that during the Nuggets/Lakers series that Kobe got 40 points fairly easily, and if I remeber right, Kobe only had 40 against the Rockets during the playoffs, and if age is a concern, why did Rick play Deke during the Portland series before he got taken out by Greg Oden. And I only know about what Deke has done while with the Rockets, but wasn't he one of the healthiest 7 footers in the league?
Well I don't think a one star thread should be awarded JUST for trading Shane. He is VERY tradeable for us if at the right price. FOSTER IS NOT THE RIGHT PRICE. So I agree. 1 star thread! I'd take this deal however if we get both 1st and 2nd rounders form them. lol.
I guess we are going to go in circles again then because IF Morey is going to trade Shane because they acquired Ariza what makes you think he is going to go for a younger guy?? How do you know he isn't going to go for another veteran guy. What makes you think the Rockets are in rebuilding mode??? I'm not saying you said the Rockets are in rebuilding mode. The way this team is shaped up now I would say we are ook. Yao may or may not miss the season. I still believe it is way tooooo early and guys are freaking out. He has the remainder of July August, September, October. Season starts in November. We really don't need him the 1st month so let him rest. Yao can come back McGrady is working out and on the verge of coming back. (hopefully) No need to trade Battier or anyone. Sign a back-up center and get it over with.
Kobe had 40 against Orlando and 40 twice against Denver. If you're trying to imply that Shane didn't play extraordinary defense on him, I disagree. You could tell by the sheer amount of trash talking, face-making, and elbowing that Shane was getting in Kobe's head. All of that "no one can stop me" shizz? Yeah, Shane was definitely in his head. The actual value of this is debatable, but I don't think it's debatable that Shane had a different effect on Kobe.
Now, as far as Shane's "being in his head" value being debatable, I crunched a few numbers: (I'm not pretending like this hasn't been done before) Kobe's 2009 playoff stats: Code: FTA FTA/G Series 44 8.8 Orlando 72 12 Denver 42 6 Houston 39 7.8 Utah FGM FGA FG% Series 48 103 0.466019417 Utah 73 161 0.453416149 Houston 63 131 0.480916031 Denver 58 135 0.42962963 Orlando As we can see, Shane didn't have much effect on his shooting percentage, although he (and our team) allowed Kobe the least free-throws, which counts for something in my opinion. It frustrates him. Unfortunately, frustrating him doesn't seem to have a quantifiable effect, though. At least we can see all of those smug-ass faces that he makes. If you notice, people did most of their complaining about the officiating in the Denver series - Kobe got double the free throw attempts per game against the Nugs compared to us! Sorry, rambling. I just found it kind of interesting. Anyway, I wouldn't trade Shane unless it was for a scoring option, as has been previously stated. I feel like Shane's an important piece to have on a team, but I don't think he really fits on a team without reliable offensive options (like ours). I'd move him - but definitely not for Foster.
If Morey's need of turning the team more athletic and faster Foster does not fit the bill. I still don't know what the team will do for the Center position, do they go for a quick athletic Center and get a back up Center that is more defense oriented? I just can't wait to see what Morey does.
Because that's my opinion, that's why. How do you know he wouldn't go for a younger guy? Other then what it seems to be your gut feeling. We're just trading the same speculative thoughts. If you're not saying that I said that, then why would you think that I thought that? Do you make it a habit of jumping into conclusions and putting words into other people's mouths? You think we'll be ok. That's great, happy for you. I happen to lean towards thinking not, but since this is some pull out of someone's butt thread about some 32 year old center for Shane, I'd rather have the discussion in a more appropriate thread. Your opinions are duly noted. Good for you.
P.S, But this is not to say that other elite teams in the west(Not including Houston of course ) and east that have to compete with the laker's later down the road, don't overrate Shane's defense on Kobe, which votes well for the rockets, for those other teams might be willing to part young valuable pieces,.... so we pretty much trade shane now while his value is HIGH....and teams are willing to over value him..... cough(portland).. and Yes! i responded to my own post
whats up with these dumb ass threads, seriously you know jack crap about basketball dude. I mean come on now Jeff Foster????? are u kidding me he's a freaking Scrub! Shane battier >>>>>>>>> Jeff Foster
