Shane's had a great +/- for us for years. I don't know if he had a similar impact for the grizzlies. I really don't see how it's so high, but today he played great defense and hit his threes. He cut off those backdoor plays that Utah usually pulls off so easily.
Yea, heres the thing...Battiers minutes on the floor were an exact duplicate of Kobe Bryants because he sits when Kobe sits. He re-enters when Kobe does. I have no idea why you insist on this witch hunt, but I don't think you are going to be able to convince anyone.
I'll find it for you if you can find for me all of your posts and then tell me what % of them involve you hating on Battier, deal? Thanks.
the bottom line should be it doesn't matter whether it was a +100 or a -500, Morey has his own way of looking at it and as long as it's a good number he'll keep Shane around, once it's no longer worth it (or a great deal comes around), then he'll be gone.
Trevor needs to learn from Shane. I don't know if anyone noticed, but every time there was a back door cut from Brewer Shane went around the pick and took away that option. Beautiful defense.
Artest played just as many minutes with Kobe in the game as Battier, yet he still managed to have a very good +/- (something like +5 I think). What's Battier's excuse?
Weird, his value was low, actually non-existent almost, just last week...it couldn't have been an overreaction by some fan on here, could it? Hmmmm...
Artest played like crap most of the series, i think that's enough to show that we shouldn't be using +/- to judge a player's play alone, regardless of whether it implies good or bad play.
My deal with shane and his personal supporters is when he plays good, people want to pull up per or some other stat, but when he plays poor or isn't in the game, those same people disregard the same stats he pulled up or try to use something else of no relevance. If the rockets win, its because of shane but when they lose, its on somebody else. I think shane is a good guy, good talker, avg basketball player, but people act like the franchise will crumble without him.
I've said it in the game thread and I'll say it again here. I'm beginning to actually think Shane banged your woman while you were forced to watch helplessly, it would explain alot of your sac chasing on Battier. And FYI, Shane did cut to the basket tonight.
It's hard to survive without your captain. Good grief Bob Sacotrollo, you're not a bright one. Thanks for bumping up my thread though, keep up the good work. You bumping up this thread in a way shows your appreciation for Shane's intangibles, as your thread bumping encourages fellow GARM members to read this thread about Captain Battier. Appreciate your efforts.
I can see your point, but I don't feel like you appreciate the good things he brings to the team. Furthermore, its difficult to stand aside while the same 3-4 posters consistantly bad mouth the guy, even when he has a good game. People certainly are entitled to thier opinions but when you come to a team fan board and the same person(s) paste the same dribble over and over, without any mention of anything other than that particular player, its difficult to believe they are even fans of the team.
Battier spent at least 15 minutes rolling around on the floor. I don't need a +/- to know he was working out there.
Did you consider +/- a worthwhile statistic when Battier was putting up like a -5 in last year's playoffs? How about the opening 3 games of this season, when Battier's +/- was among the worst on the team? I bet you just looked the other way because it didn't support your agenda.
