I agree with that. IMHO Van Gundy is well prepared for each game.

Both Luther and Battier r important for the team. But Battier is comparatively more important for the rockets. If u only want a great offensive team, go for Pheonix or Dallas, Houston is not what u r looking for.

uhh, like I said, battiers team defense is amazing. The the thought that I am entertaining is he could add to his offensive game, being able to play on both sides of the ball. I never said luther was more valuable than battier, or that I considered him a better player. Perhaps I overvalue what Battier brings w his offensive game. I have no problem admitting that. I do not know where you got the idea that I was looking for a great offensive team only.

    Sounds reasonable to me, but...

Some guys just don't have the physical tools to be that good at defense.

I don't see where JVG for intance has turned players without those tools into defensive studs. Guys like Hayes are just quick and made for defense, though he is short for the positions he plays. I don't see JVG turning guys without such tools into defensive studs, even within a team concept.

I am very happy with the season, given the injuries to Tracy and and Ya. and such limitations as Rafer etc., though like everyone else Rafer has his strenghts as well as his weaknesses.

First, i want to apologize for my misunderstanding. Second, in that case, i would agree with u in some points. Cuz Battier is a great player, in the offensive end, he's able to hit open 3s and make some silk moves in the paint. I remember JVG saying he wants to see more actions of Battier on the offensive end too. However, i don't see Battier changing very much. I guess thats his style of playing, and he's uncomfortable to be too aggressive on the offense. Or is it fatigue which worries him? Maybe he feels he's unable to do the jobs he could on the defensive end, taking charges and blocking shots, probably if he spends more energy on the offense, the defense would break down a lot for the rockets plus he loses his style of play so he's unwilling to do it?

Yea thats highly likely. I have also heard Battier himself say before that he would be uncomfortable if plays were specifically drawn up for him, or something along those lines. We need a confident shooter that has the ability to make it in the clutch (besides Yao & Mac). Sad to say, but Mike james was kinda like that, too bad hes a head case.
