They resemble the Blazers... does that somehow discredit their success? The last time I checked, they're still 13-7 and allowing the 5th least PPG in the NBA.

Battier's steadily improved over the course of the season, but the numbers don't lie.

    Ariza: 11.5 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 2.4 APG, 1.5 SPG, 69% FT.

And we all know, there are something special things that cannot be measured by stats on Shane: solid mentality, leadership.

    Ariza is still crap

I read the NO forums, they are saying the exact same things like we did last year

"Why does he brick open threes"

"He always does that awkward drive and twist his body for a layup"

not exact quotes but something of that nature

    Okay, we'll play this game.

    Battier Vs. Ariza
    8.5 PPG | 11.5 PPG
    41% FG | 39.6% FG
    35.8% 3PT | 29.9% 3PT
    69.7% FT | 69% FT
    4.8 RPG | 5.4 RPG
    2.8 APG | 2.4 APG
    0.8 SPG | 1.6 SPG
    1.5 BPG | 0.3 BPG
    1.3 TO/G | 1.6 TO/G

So Battier's stats are better than Ariza's in 6/9 categories.

We are forgetting another important category:

Ability to bounce ball with hands: Shane Battier: 0, Trevor Ariza: -1.

He is doing better but by no means deserves a thread about him. LOL! I hardly even notice his contributions when Scola is keeping us in most games and Lowry is helping win others. Martin goes off to keep us close. Brad Miller wins a us a few off his personal performances. Battier helped us win a few also though. I just see alot more people contributing alot more to a losing record than Battier. I wouldnt be against keeping him for cheaper. I also wouldnt be against getting rid of him for a better player at his position. Which apparently some of his fans are at all costs.

Also the ability to lead a team and impose his will into a victory.

See Lakers game where he becomes Kobe late in the game.
Also Thunder game where he Stops Durant and Scores as much as Durant at 18.

I would argue that both are at 0. It's just that Battier KNOWS he's at 0 and Ariza thinks he's at 10. Just like Lowry (well, before these last few games) couldn't shoot, but unlike Alston he didn't jack up 15 shots a game.

Yes... if only Rick plays him as a role player instead of him getting starters minutes...

Hes also playing with someone named Chris Paul, who is one of the best if not the best assisting point guard in the league, yet Ariza manages to brick all his open shots and shoot a lower % than SHANE BATTIER, who shoots pretty much all three pointers and almost half of those he jacks up seem to be shotclock expiring bailout threes.

Even if he keeps playing close to the way he's played the last 6 games?

Battier is #2 in blocks at the SF position behind Wilson Chandler (avg & total).

Rudy Gay is #3... So I guess I have to:

Unless this is sarcasm, Hollinger made PER for people like you. Although I think you might just only focus on PPG. because Battier beats Ariza in most categories. You need to adjust for minutes and pace when looking at stats. Even still it is pretty obvious to me that Ariza is still a hopeless chucker on the Hornets.

6 games? really? i have years with shane to see what's going to happen

only stars are consistent. role players are what they are. shane will hit his shots for short stretches well b/c he is an NBA player after all. even freakin' rafer alston had pretty damn great stretches himself.

eventually he'll settle back into being shane battier who deserves no more than 10-15 mins a game.

it's time for us to start getting and developing ALL-AROUND players. if we want to start building a championship team, that's what we need. no more one-dimensional or "intangible" players.

time to get more kyle lowrys. that's basically our ONLY all-around player

That looked like a bad call. Two questionable calls on Tmac in a row.

you could have said all that and still answered my question, even if you think it's unlikely.
