I can't argue against that. Your statements are inarguable. Battier is great for the team, but I worry that the lack of a true 3rd scorer will hurt us... As far as a possible trade in the draft that would mean Head would have to go, I don't know if I'd be OK with that. However, you can't ignore that if we didn't have Battier, Bonzi would get more time, like JVG said. We might lose a great shooter in Head, but we could've gained a true 3rd scorer in Bonzi, not to mention that we'd have Roy also as a 4th scorer. That would mean Rafer would be taking way less shots and be our 5th scorer. Rafer as the 5th option on our team? Sounds good.
HAHAHAHHA so you are going to listen to CLYDE DREXLER! The same guy who thinks that Rafer is a top 5 pg and that vspan will become an allstar someday. Now i know where you are getting your information from.
dang! I voted and tied it up again 131 - 131 Brandon Roy had a unique opportunity at Portland this year that I don't think he would have had at the Rockets, but I do think he is a great player so how do you pass that up in building your future. If it had come down to trading Roy I might still have done it to get a veteran like Shane. I am just glad it worked out the way it did.
Yea thats if Bonzi decided to show up and not be a fata**. Basically if he did, then I think Roy trade wouldve been HUGELY AWESOME for the rockets. Oh and Roy wouldve been 3rd scorer not 4th. I think Battier needs to be more assertive with his shot (as I believe Head also does). Those 2 shoot such a good % from 3, just keep shooting the ball. Yes Rafer is nothing special but I say just figure out which of him, head, Battier is hot on any given day and feed them the ball. Rafer does not need to find his shot he just needs to find out who has hot hand.
Brandon Roy is a player and IF, IF the Rockets had a chance to get him HE WAS PLAN A! Is there any reason for crying over spilled milk? Last I checked, MJ Could have been in Portland instead of the Red Head. Now that's funny. So it happens but in this case, Portland stole Roy from the Rockets. So Plan B is in effect and it's turning out pretty good for this team. As for Bonzi playing more, that bozo was not ready to play and was good for 1 game. He played huge minutes and was the 1# option. Is that going to happen much with this team? And that same Bonzi promptly disappeared. And while I'm at it, didn't Roy break down and was lost for 20 games? That's his rookie season. That and his other injury concerns before he was drafted. It's like if Red Head didn't get hurt he would be all time great or if Samson wasn't hurt he would have been twice the man KG was. Didn't happen, they got hurt.
So, we couldn't win now if we had Roy? Apparently, the Rockets front office thought we could, seeing how getting Roy was Plan A.
I love Shane Battier....LOVE HIM....and have wanted him since he was the NCAA college player of the year, even wanted the Rockets to draft him that year....but....... I would take Brandon Roy over Battier 10 out of 10 times........ Brandon is not only a threat on offense but is a capable defender, and can create shots for himself and others. He would make the Rockets a better over all team than Battier...more balanced. DD
