Excellent Point I was going to put the exact same thing. So everyone here is done with Battier. Were what 12-3 over past 15 games we're alright. Hoping we can make it out of first round this year.

wow, seriously, the 'ol i had more free time on my hands to join a forum and accumulate 15,000+ posts so I must be wiser and older than you...yeah that makes so much sense...so i take it anyone on this board who joined before you knows more about the rockets than you, huh? Just ridiculous...

RV6, your arguments have been reduced to semantics. You couldnt defend Battier so you decided to divert. Anyways, I will play.

Just think about the question you are asking and implying. If you count every single shot both player has shot, would anyone consider maxwell as Hakeem's equal? of course not. Would people consider that he has hit more big shots than Hakeem? That is a very valid argument, one which you are downright dismissing.

Big shots do not have to be last second shots. They can be momentum shifter shots. Shots that change the momentum of the game. Shots that change the momentum of the series. Like I said, Maxwell hit enough of these shots in one game alone to give a number of players a run for their money.

Of course shots can also be game winners and last second shots. Maxwell has hit a number of these during his career and I am pretty confident he has a lot more of game winners on his resume than Hakeem did.

Now if you consider every shot that a player has taken in a playoffs, lets say, then no Maxwell is not on Hakeem's level.

Now let's put this whole thing into perspective. The discussion was about Shane Battier. Based on their respective resumes, Battier is neither a Maxwell, Horry, Cassel. or Elie right now. So stop trying to degrade the players that have brought championship to the team in order to put someone who hasn't done much on the pedestal.

I can't believe you guys pointing the finger at Shane tonight instead of Artest. Battier just won the Denver game for us, and he wasn't even covering Kobe much in the fourth. It was Ron's hot headed insistence to "carry his team" that cost us the game. We had a chance to pull it out when he made that awful decision to gamble for the steal around 3 minutes left, giving Kobe a WIDE open 3 to bump the score 85-80. That was the defining play in the quarter, in my opinion. Our fate was sealed after that one. For all you Shane haters criticizing his "zero" offense, how many 3s did Ron make today? Uhh... 0? How many did he take? Uh... 6? 7? Hmm... I'm not saying we should all hate on Ron instead, but people, do use your head please.

No Zboy, i didnt divert, this came from the other thread, it was between me and kwame and he knew exactly what i was refering to and what he wrote, you two other guys decided to jump in and fly with what you thought it was about. It has nothing to do with Shane.

I dont believe i degraded any of the players or said anythin that was untrue.

-i called Cassell an all star, an exception as a late pick int he first round who turned out better than most guys at that spot

    - I said Maxwell didnt stick as long because of his attitude. Isn't that true? In no way does that imply i think he was a bad player. It's well known he had temper issues and teams worried about that. I also said the trainer said max was the most athletic guy he had seen, which is a big compliment, but that he just didnt' always get it together. I can even find the quote for you, it's on his website. So no lies there.

I said Horry benefitted from being on the right teams. Is that a lie? Does it imply i think he sucked? No. He fits well in certain systems and he does his job well within that sytem and he played on teams that fit. What's so degrading about that??

I said elie didnt have as much success on other teams as he did with houston? That includes team AND personal success. My only mistake was not saying that part specifically because someone else countered by saying he also won a rin with the spurs. Yes he did, but he played a smaller role there and although he contributed, overall he was more successful in Houston than anywhere else.

I dont see what's so downgrading about saying players fit a system. that means they actually are very good at certain things that are valued within that system. how is that degrading, it's a compliment , if anything. why would I even want to do that to players I'm a fan of? Afterall, this IS a rocket's forum. I even have several sport sections of The Chronicle and the Houston Post from those two years locked up in storage.

I wanted you to answer the question so it would clear you from being a part of Kwame's original statement, because i knew you weren't refering to the same thing as he was, apparently pippendagimp doesnt get that.

I swear some of you fans are not far away from dementia. How can you forget about Shane's clutch 3 against Denver 2 moons ago?

Shane just needs to practice more shooting.

Oh man, you really are a young'n aren't you?!?! I couldn't tell before, but if you're still running with this kid/rook thing then you must really be hiding something. Or, you're probably as old as I am (I'm 26), but have maturity issues and don't know when to quit. Learn something from Zboy, at least he knew when to play around and when to talk like a grown man.

I sure hope you're not really in you're 40s or older, because then there really is no excuse..
