You're right that I don't analyze all games. That takes too long. I usually stick to playoff caliber teams. But in generally, from what I've seen about bad teams is that they have terrible defense...that's usually on the coach, and because of that, it's so hard to determine how good the individual defenders are. I've tried watching games between 2 bad teams and it's hard to watch. Sloppy and bad basketball all the way around. Bad isos on offense. No rotation on defense. There's just no awareness. So it's hard for me to compare. While I love Josh Smith's intangibles, he's a rover. It's hard to judge him. I can compare Ginobili to Battier because they're teams play solid defense and they both understand what they're trying to do. While Ginobili does gamble, I think his advantages over Battier are that he has quicker lateral movement, which creates more 1 on 1 charge opportunities. I love Battier's team defensive awareness, but his lack of quickness forces Battier to make a quick guess to draw the charge. 1 on 1, Battier is not quick enough to prevent penetration from a Brandon Roy per say, but Ginobili is. I will continue this later, must go for now.
Battier hit 6-8 FGs, 6-8 3 pointers, and 3 steals for a solid 17 point performance in the biggest game of the year for the Rockets. He deserved as much praise as TMac and Yao tonight. Battier was the difference in the game tonight. Rocket Zoom
Shane was friggin awesome tonight, those corner 3s are like money in the bank now. He needs to keep scoring and keep being agressive on offense. Clutch performance by Shane, huge 3 point shots in critical times. He is the kind of player that help you win championships.
Unfortunately, Shane will probably never get the award because most people look only at rebounds and blocks.
Couldn't agree more. He always seems to have one or two standout plays that make a huge difference, and tonight was no different (how about that quick one hand steal?). He was without a doubt making it happen. It took all star performances from both our big guns, but STILL we needed some firepower (not to mention the other skills he brings to the table), and while others stepped up like Juwan and Head at times (among others) Shane really put us over the top against a team that sets the bar pretty high.
