I think it's less about trying to move the players as it about what we would be trying to acquire. I think DM would move either or both if the right deal came along. That said, I think Battier is a little safer as I doubt we will find a high quality we like on a contending team, and Battier's value to a team that's looking to rebuild is only his contract. Since we have Jeffires for contract, we would only use Battier if we need both to make salaries work. Plus, Battier is more of a fan favorite, a team captain, and mentor for some of the younger players.

Bud, on the other hand, is a sweetner to a deal. Alot of teams won't really see much value in him, but he makes a decent bench player. Yes, his shot, and game in general, is off right now, but there is reason to think he'll get back to form. He's not a pure shooter, but he makes up for it with his ability to finish at the rim. He'll never be a defense stopper, but against other bench players, he's not a big liability either.

I do think TW could get moved too...if he's needed for the right deal and/or doesn't seem to fit with our team. Honestly, if we get a SF in a trade, I can see us clearing out all 3 if that's what it takes.

You guys are the most fickle fans of any team for any sport, EVER! I swear when some is sucking, even if it was Kobe or LeBron you would want him traded. When Bud starts to get it going for a few games and he will, he will be heralded as a god on this site.

Here's the way I look at the Rockets three SF's=

    -Shane Battier=

By far his worst season defensively. The loss of athleticism and help defense in the post has made this season excruciating to watch. Still he can be useful if he is surrounded by the right players, the problem is, he just doesnt fit in with this unit. He would fit in perfectly with a team like Orlando who has a dominate big man and can work inside/outside and work well on defense. With Yao Ming out indefintely, he is useless.

    -Chase Budinger=

Before the season started I would have said that Battier would be moved but Chase Budinger's weak points have been exposed heavily this season and he could be a defensive liability the rest of his career unless he learns to slide over to the SG position where he could be more effective off the bench without giving up as much defensively. He will never be a full time starter in this league because he will never be able to defend the likes of a Lebron James or Kevin Durant.

    -Terrance Williams=

Highest potential of the three SF's but not enough data to make a proper assesment yet. Unfortunately before the trade deadline, he will only have a short window on the court and little practice time to show what he can do for this team. Its a gamble but Williams is already a step above Budinger and Battier because he can play both ends of the court. If Williams doesn't win the starting spot by the end of the season, its his own fault.

-Analysis - When the trade deadline comes around we really have no idea what will happen but I believe that Battier and Williams hold the highest value of the two because scoring is not an issue for the rest of the team, defense is the cause of this team not getting wins. I just believe that Battier and Chuck Hayes should be used sparingly as defensive specialists and should never be allowed to create shots for themselves.

All of this however, depends on if Terrance Williams will pan out and keep his head on straight. If he can do this and learn to play within the system, then its hard to see Battier or Budinger with much time on the court if they are still with the team.
